What do you work as/whats your job

I run my own business with other half, providing horses, costumes, weapons, etc. for film, TV and live historical recreations and displays. About 30% horse related, the rest is research and making stuff from all historical time periods. And STILL don't get anough time for the horses.....

That's a great job, at least it sounds like it but I expect like everything it has it's downsides.

Um, yes it is great! The only downside is there is a lot of it, so we get exhausted in the summertime when all the live events are on (last weekend was the last, yay!). Everything becomes work eventually, but we still love it, and it's never dull.

I work for social services as a home carer. Love the job, not so keen on working for the local authority
Has its up and downs, sporadic shift work, alot at weekends, but off most afternoons so get to ride/do in the daylight through winter.
Hoping to start nurse training next year.

Pharmacist... I work 08:30 to 18:00 five days a week (includes alternate Saturdays). When I had a horse I used to ride before work then just do an evening check so typically leave the house at 6am and home about 19:45.

A reborn baby doll is a doll that looks and feels exactly like a real baby. They are very popular, although they do creep a lot of people out too! Some of the dolls I make are replica's of someones child as a baby, or even babies that have passed.

Oh Lord! I saw a TV programme of very eccentric people buying those dolls once. That seriously creeped me out somewhat...

I'd love your job, too!!!

I'm a SAHM husband works and live abroad so its 24/7 so i only get to ride in term time really. But I do do 2 days a week for my mums embroidery business.

Hoping to buy somewhere soon with possible livery and holiday lets- fingers crossed- we've only been saying this for 5 years!

I'm a preschool practitioner, working with 2-4 year olds. Work term time, and school hours which means I get lots of time to spend with the boy.
Looking to move on this year :)

Im a controller at a courier company. try to direct drivers to deliveries. work 6-3 so every afternoon is free for my horses and no winter in darkness. not my dream job but pays the bills......just about:-)

I used to be a secondary school teacher but now work at an exam board currently in the headlines a lot and not for the best reasons...

I work whatever hours my job needs and so have my horse on full livery so she can be unceremoniously dumped if needed :o

I've managed to combine my job with horses by becoming a racecourse nurse. I work at several local racecourses as part of the team that cares for the jockeys if they are injured. I also run my own small training company and teach first aid to companies including equine ones. I love it and it works round my horses.

Some interesting jobs :D

I'm an animal science/care lecturer. Students do get fed up with me using horses as my examples all the time though

Currently studying towards my bhs stages (need to get up to level 4) so I can branch over into our equine department and do some lecturing there

Customer advisor for mail order side of a big pharmaceutical company. Basically selling supplements to people that need them and I love it! Shift work on a rotational pattern, So my boy gets seen twice a day and I have a wonderful sister who's in sixth form a 2 minute walk away from the yard that enjoys riding Bud in return for mucking out, and a Mum who's horsey obsessed like me and although she can't ride anymore will go and sort Bud when I'm on late shifts in the winter so he's not the last one out :)

I'm a Local Authority child protection social worker. Cos hours can be very unpredictable, depending on what crisis is going on and for how long, Mr Horse is on 7 day full livery with fab YO, lovely yard and excellent t/o. He' ridden 2-3 times a week by a professional, who is very fond of him and does long hacks and schooling. I see him most days, morning and evening and groom him, and clean tack and if I'm not too late/ shattered ride in the school. Long hacks and varied horsey fun things Sat and Sun.

Used to be a student at uni- hated it and left and became a full time barmaid (at the job i was doing part time)working 50hr weeks (6 days a week- got Monday off) It was good in a way because i didn't have to leave for work till 11 if i was doing the morning shift or 430 for the evening shift,so lots of time for horses but i had no social life and if i was working a double shift it was a nightmare with the horses. Oh and most nights i wouldnt get home before 11.
But now got an office job and tbh i love it! 9-5 37.5hrs a week, about the same wage annually but for less hours, it will mess up riding in the winter, but i get my weekends back to myself and my horses (oh and OH). Wouldn't change it it pays for two horses and i can switch off when i come home which is what i want :)

My life seems pretty dull compared to everyone else!

I'm 50 now so just do part time work as a childminder, I work for a local event coach so while her baby is asleep I get to watch :)

I also have my own yard and have one part livery as well as my two ponio's and two dogs to look after

My husband lives/works in Austria so I get to go over there sometimes too.

I'm a chef and work anywhere from 9-15 hour days :( sometimes I find it very difficult but it helps having fantastic faciilities such as a American style barn with lights, indoor arena with lights so I can go down before I start at 7 in the morning and when I finish late at night

I have a degree in Political Science, Middle East & South Asian Studies, and Journalism, but...

I'm a head trainer at an event/hunter barn, I also give lessons, coaching, training rides and buy/sell. I'm also an amateur upper level eventer with (crazy) dreams of one day making it to the olympics.

My teaching and training business is steadily expanding! And by steadily I mean that I really don't have time to sleep, take a vacation, do laundry, or visit that mythical place called the beach! I currently have 37 students :)
