Gears!
You just set it going in eg working trot, and it carries on without any further input from you until you change gear
And perfect straightness
(Inspired by having a go on a mechanical horse)

I've ridden one of those - he was a GP dressage horse and that's exactly what he was like - put him in canter and he just cantered until you asked him to do something else :D:D

Hmmmm....I think I would pay extra for the following:
* Scotch guard mud proof covering, if it was also rainproof that would be super handy
* For the cob some kind of gastric band would be useful
* I'm also down with the coffee cup holder, fab idea ?
* The ability to change the fuel system as in petrol to LPG or something for cost effectiveness
* SEAT BELTS....!!!!!!

I was saying yesterday that I would pay extra to get a feature that's been factory installed in one of my horses. A good doer who eats anything, but only eats the amount that he needs.

I've also always said I would pay extra to get the feature that I found out this morning the other one has. A coat that the mud falls off as soon as you wave a brush near it.

Are there any optional extras you'd pay more money for?
.

Both of these would be great.

One that doesn't need to be clipped would be nice too.

Some of the earlier comments put me in mind of my sports horse who was grey but never really needed brushing had a fabulous mane for plaiting although it didnt lie flat but that's because I like a short mane and a thick dark tail that never needed anything more than a quick brush through. Sadly he was PTS at 9 as he was chronically lame by then; so I'd pay for a soundness feature. Or at least the ability to communicate what is uncomfortable at a much earlier stage than lameness.

Ive got one who only poos on her mats - her bed is immaculate every morning. I'd pay good money for that function on all of them

Thats such a smart horse! I keep wondering why mine dont figure out that the bed is for laying in, and big enough to pee on one side...and they have the whole yard to poop in, as the stable is open....but no....its a mixed mess of everything by the time morning rolls around!

i’d pay extra for the horse to self-regulate the exact amount of food they need...theyre soooo greedy...

Teflon-equivalent coating (I have a grey), that doesn't cause the saddle to slip; extendable legs with all-terrain feet; an appetite-suppressant button; a button to alter the length of mail and tail (like one of those creepy children's hairdressing dolls) so that you can shorten them when you go for a muddy gallop, and lengthen for native showing classes; a toilet-on-command function (for use when the wheelbarrow/skip has been strategically placed).

...and if all else fails, a detailed manual and a comprehensive lifetime warranty :p

*he's a lovely horse really, and I don't think I'd actually want to change anything... apart from lusting after a stain-resistant coat!*

Mine (lives out now) used to pee in one spot and poop in a couple of specific spots, unless you were deemed late, then he'd make a mess. He liked to go outside for his morning pee, and it had to be by a certain time or he'd wreck his bed ?

I have two in the same environment, half a barn each. One poos everywhere including where she stands and eats and where she lies. The other eats at the net, sleeps right over the other side, and poos in an area down the bottom end. I'm so glad Miss Messy isn't in a stable!

Brilliant thread. I would like all the above please plus a rug changer robot that doesn't freak the horses out and picks the perfect rug as well as takes it off when not needed and works 24/7.
