What fictional horse did you want to own?

I can't remember the name of the book but I remember reading a few books about a horse called Midnight Dancer and I always wanted to own that one!

Pepper from the Saddle Club (maybe we need a fave Saddle Club horse thread?)
Saffron from the Josephine Pullein-Thompson pony club books (actually I still want Saffron. Or Ferdy)
Quest from the Heronsway series

Quest! thank you for that, I couldn't remember the name of that pony - I loved her too! :D

Lightning, the black thoroughbred from one of the Jinny stories-Shantih seemed like too much of a pain. The black horse from Silas (not that I like black horses or anything :p) and Hidalgo.

Ok - I wanted Flicka, Black Beauty and Ginger, Sundowner (I am probably the only person who watched that ridiculous film!)

and

drum roll..........

Sandy from Dogtanian and the three muskerhounds!

oh and Uni from Dungeons & Dragons!

I remember the midnight dancer books, there was something about them so similar to the shantih books.
Shantih was my all time favorite, and I loved ginger & black beauty.

Another oldie here....Black Boy from the Jill books by Ruby Ferguson.
Also, Fury, the wild stallion on TV several centuries ago!
Oh, and the mare in My friend Flicka.

I would still love a horse like black beauty! Loved the shantih stories and black stallion! I also loved this funny story in 'bunty' (I guess passed down to me) that had a comic book strip about a girl and her bionic horse, it had telescopic legs which got them out of many a scrape!

I remember that!

Mr. Ed the talking horse

Lord no, sounds like a nightmare! I can see it now, telling tales on me:
'She doesnt feed me enough you know'
'OMG everybody, she just peed in my stable!!'
etc. etc. No thank you :p

vaguely remember reading Jinny and Shantih, only one of the books though. Everyone saying she was a PITA, lol
In what way?? Can't remember, am old person :D

When I read the jinny books I always used to think that I'd have wanted to keep the lovely treking ponies that they borrow to go to school! Shantih sounded like too much work!

I wanted Phantom most of all but would have settled for any member of the Silver Brumby herd.

Editors comment by Bob the "nota"cob. No , Mr Ed was a "mister" not a mare and therefore not a gossip and telltale! He only spoke to wilbur "who was definately not his intelectual equel"I have the same relationship with my halfwit owner Mike. :D

She was a chestnut arab mare, doesn't that explain? :p :D She was 'rescued' from being a 'killer horse' in a circus, and although she got better with schooling, she was still rather 'hot' :)

Shantih for me too! I now own two arabs, including a beautiful chestnut yearling filly that I bred myself. I think Shantih is what started my love affair with them. I was always so jealous of Jinny!!!!
