Having surveyed the mess in my car today, it made me wonder what percentage of horse owners have the same random items as I have in my car...

So - which of the following have you got in your car?
Anything else I have missed (apart from mud, hay, straw/shavings which I think everyone will have in their car!)?

Currently in my car I have

a muddy turnout rug
massage pad
saddle cover
sweat scraper

and enough rubbish to fill a recycling bin :p

I have the same random things but always seem to have socks in my car - for when I nip up to the stables from work and want thicker socks for my wellies!

2 pairs of trainers
1 pair of dublin river boots
2 coats
2 gillets
full chaps
work trousers
polo top

2 x dressage nummnahs

a reflective vest

2 bottles of coke

and thats after clearing it out 4 days ago

I actually cleaned mine out a bit ago, but it was horrible: random gloves, showgear, banana peels, leadropes, extra half-chaps, empty carrot bags...you get the idea.

My car is like hell with a cd player you name it and its probably rotting in there lol

Along with anything horsey that i was going to take there or bring home then forgot to get out the car !! Oh and thinking about it my 9 year ols son might be under it all somewhere ... brb just gonna double check !lol

I have got mud, hay, straw, hi-viz exercise sheet enough rubbish to fill a skip!! jackets trainers and kids toys. my dad got in my car last night and said it should come with a health warning and he wishes he had his tetnus jab!

2 saddle cloths, a syringe, two loads of supplements, carrots, polos, three coats, two name plates, a leather head collar and two pairs of boots.

No wonder people turn down lifts with me! :D:p

I have more of the yard in my car than is actually on the yard...and yes that may well include the odd mouse, lmao :D

Now if you had asked me Friday, I could have ticked all the above and more!
Sweaty rugs in boot, spilled feed on front floor, numnahs for wash, you name it, I had it!
I believe I may even have had the odd child or two stashed in amongst it somewhere!
But I got fed up of kids moaning about stinky rugs and horse hair on their school uniforms, so dutifully cleaned it out yesterday!

Mine is very (unusually) clean and tidy, but there are no seats in the back.
This is because we went to a family funeral on Friday (hence the clear out), and on Saturday I had an event to attend for work so took the seats out to fit the display stand, boxes etc and leave room to stop at the feed store on the way home.

The gloves plus...
- wellies
- riding boots
- some hi-viz
- riding hat
- body protector
- two spare hamster cages
- champagne bottle used for when the water needs topping up (often, there is a leak)
- a whole load of original water colours I have nowhere to hang!

As well as the stuff in the poll: 100 yards of electric fencing tape, massive pink water bucket, 2 smelly jackets, hay net, the wheel clamp for my trailer (yes, I know!), tub of dried mealworms for the yard chickens, packet of 3 nose nets for pollen allergic ned, feed bowl lids x 2, lead rope, wads of disgusting tisses for winter drippy nose, ONE glove (???), 3 unopened car smellies to mask the horsey pong, and several tatty dressage test sheets. My OH makes prissy tutting noises and tries to brush the hay and mud off the passenger seat if ever he has to get into MY car lol.

Perhaps I'm one of the only ones who deliberately has stuff like this in my car :D I always keep a spare headcollar and rope in my boot, along with some other bits and bobs - you never know what you will come across on your travels. I've caught several loose horses who have escaped from their fields onto country lanes using the headcollar so it's one thing I won't leave home without now!

Sorry guys - I have something far worse and more terifying in my car. I have most of the above as well but.....

Horror of horrors....

I have a home educated 10 year old in it!!

Me too - a few years back I came across a policeman hanging onto a loose horse in a gateway by its mane on the A43 just outside Northampton. He explained that the RSPCA were on their way to collect the horse, so I gave him a spare headcollar from my car so that he'd have more chance of hanging onto it! I insisted that I didn't need the headcollar back, but he traced my address from my numberplate and brought it back to me the following week!

I've just changed my vehicle and my OH insisted that I bought a van for all my 'horsey c**p' as he put it :) Currently I've got a headcollar, a couple of high vis vests, a girth, gloves, all tidily in a box, wellies in a welly bag, and a bargain rug I bought second hand and am waiting to sneak into the house for a wash!

2 saddles, 3 bridles, 2 riding hats, jods, chaps, riding jacket, wintec front riser, prolite pad, apples....mobile tack shop x skip :D

I've also got enought whips in my car to make Madam Whiplash Jelous........ gets me some very funny looks if I give work colleagues a lift.

Also a riding hat, several gloves, some in paris, a few almost finished packets of mints, a coat (or two) sometimes some boots, a jumper, and an absolute shedload of non-horsey junk. I don't even have a horse yet but still my car smells of stables and has horse stuff rattling around the boot......

I have a riding hat, spare gloves, my gillet, my yard boots, a whip, spare jods, socks!!!? - I cleaned the car out at the weekend so its all in the boot - I had all sorts in there on Friday lol
