What is with people.....

I don't know what you're offering, but I agree (after wading through 6 pages...) that 10 an hour is quite a lot for that kind of work.

Maybe you need to tweak the job description a bit to attract the right people - either change it to 'Yard Person' or find a few more jobs at the yard, more hours and get a 'Groom' I don't think you're going to find what you want as it is.

Do I really give a flying [****] what you think? No.

Rude? no ruder than anyone has been to me

I wouldnt employ you anyway.

The fact that you think that posters like Shilasdair and JM07 would just follow like sheep shows you are also a very poor judge of character.

Did I mention them as being sheep? NO again people putting words in my mouth.

He did until he went to work full time. Leaves at 7 am gets home 6:30 pm so not really an option any more.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, if he is working those nice long hours in a 'proper' more rocket-science job like yourself, he'll be able to pay the groom a decent wage then?

Your last comment was really uncalled for. What has what I do for a living got to do with it? I used to like you but now I just think your a bully.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do try to respond to the point, rather than indulging in rather immature name-calling.
frown.gif

You did say in an earlier post that grooming 'wasn't rocket science' and that you
' get paid twice as much doing a job that I love so that I can have two horses on full livery which I would not be able to do if I was still a groom. Yes it is more than the grooms job but for what I do I would expect it to be.

So if both you, and your YO earn decent wages working full time hours, but you need a groom to do the horses to enable you to do that, then you are just going to have to 'bite the bullet' and pay a decent wage. The employment market will decide what a decent wage is - as you can't find anyone, your wage is below that level at the moment.

And do you know, Skewbald, she's my favourite poster - for the (albeit unintentional) laughs she provides.

Sorry, what animal says 'baaaa' where you live?
You've spent so much damn time whingeing on here now you could have mucked the blooming stables out yourself, surely. Or is this on your high paying boss's time?

oh! so it was job advertising then?

That's another way of saving pennies isnt it? Seeing as HHO magazine make you pay for that kind of advert...

i had a girl doing my mucking out when i was working full time. she was on about 7.50 a day, she did my 2 stables, nets and water so probably took her about an hour as she always swept up etc. she also worked for the multi millionaire along the road, so it was worth her while to do mine on her way past. he paid her more than i did but he has more money than i have.
grin.gif

however, if she was ever off sick, i still paid her and if i was around i always helped her. we had a great working relationship, she also got a christmas bonus. we had mutual reapect. ps she wasn''t a groom, she didn't have to touch my horses.

The Skewbald - I think you'll find that you spell it 'skivvies', seen as though you are so quick to pull others up on their poor spelling................

And PoppyAnderson, I think the phrase you are searching for is 'seeing as how' rather than the 'seen as though' used above. I have to say 'given that' would be better still.

Thought you'd appreciate the help.

I think this post has got really quite unpleasant now, a few people seem to be ganging up and its not nice to see
frown.gif

Nat1003, I would ignore the sniping. You are clearly not alone, as several people have agreed that mucking out a few boxes is not worth ten quid an hour - but I guess this summer I will be looking out for the apparently numerous jobs like that which do pay that much

[ QUOTE ]

As for the person who stated about carer prospects and over time, no, there are no career prospects but how would you know if there was overtime? Have you enquired about the job?

No wonder so many people leave this forum. Some people are like sheep, one person has a dig and then everyone follows.

Baaaaaaaaaaa

[/ QUOTE ]

No. I havent applied for the job. I wouldnt entertain it tbh.

Re the over time and career prospect comments. You'd mentioned that we wouldnt have a dig at Tesco for payin minimum wage, which no we prob wouldnt but thats because they offer more than whats being offered in the job your on about.
I aint done anything, so dont start getting your knickers in a twist with me.

Damn I wish I could be so non-judgemental and conciliatory as you!

For gawd's sake, WHY is it 'ganging up' on someone ?
There are thousands of people on here. The OP asked a question, A LOT of people answered it the same . What are we supposed to do, change our opinion if it coincides with too many other posters'?!

Its ganging up not because a lot of people share the same view, but because some members are taking it further and just making mean and snarky comments instead of participating in any constructive debate.

It is possible to disagree and discuss something quite contentious without becoming personal, and I think some of the comments made have been very unnecessary.

From where I'm standing, I have to say, it seems a case of "give as good as you get". I think there has been unkind comments made from both sides of that fence, however the fact remains, if no-one wants the job then perhaps the wage is not enough in Nats area? I think she should try and tap up the local Lollypop Lady!
grin.gif
Oops, forgot, they get paid over £6 per hour

In response to your actual post, im in agreement with you on parts i think £10 is alot to ask for when you dont know your arse from your elbow. There are a hell of alot of unrealistic people out there.

Good luck with your search.

QR IMO a few have made constructive criticism and been honest. Whereas some seem to have jumped on a bandwagon and found it funny to be patronising.

There are several comments on the last couple of pages that are quite personal and mocking towards nat1003 and I don't think it is fair to bring personal comments into a discussion like this. That is just my opinion, clearly there are several people who disagree.

and when nat1003 says 'I don't give a flying **** what you think' that would just be reasoned academic debate would it?

She may find someone to grovel to her because of her 'power job' and her condescending attitude where she lives, but she's on a hiding to nothing on here!
