This comment will likely pee off a number of people, but.......
people who lump all owner who don't shoe their horses in one category. I know of a couple of owners who don't shoe their horses. They generally on hack off road and horses are trimmed by a registered farrier every 6 - 8 weeks and have very strong hooves, never suffer with foot soreness and simply don't shoes. Their owners are not 'tree-huggers' but simply don't see the point of shoeing their horses if they don't need it.
Nothing wrong with barefoot in that instance, just people that have horses in work who know next to nothing except what they've read on a website or book, that decide to trim their own horses feet, becuase they suddenly believe their farrier who spent four years training now knows less than they do!! Does my head in!!
people who think that because my school is just over 20 x 20 I shouldn't ride in it .....never mind the fact my horse has had glowing feed back from vets, back person etc and is perfectly happy in there .
ignorant drivers
people who have horses and expect everyone else to look after them
people who can't be bothered to muck out so leave their horses out in the freezing cold
bunny huggers
JM7 - my comment was in no way directed at you, and I actually agree when it comes to those people who insist a horse has to be kept 'naturally' without any thought as to whether it suits said horse.
- snobby dressage riders, especially BYRDs ones (not saying they all are but the majority of them are seriously spoilt and dont appriciate any of what they have been brought by 'mummy&daddy'....
- people who haul on their horses mouths and swing with their hands as they think its the 'correct way' to get their horse on the bit.....
- people who ride with there hats over their noses
- people who look down at their horses head and not where they are going
- people who nod their heads whilst doing sitting trot (a BYRDs trait!)
- people who dont sweep up outside MY stable after tying their horse on MY ring to be shod that I paid to have put there in the first place.
- knowit alls at the yard who've always been there and done that and know much more about it than anyone else.
Helga1980, I'm not anti-barefoot in the least, but backing up what has just been said, people who go on a weekend course and think they can cure every soundness issue known to man because they have a knife, a rasp and a pair of latex gloves scare me witless.
Yes, I am generalising, and of course there are excellent ones, just keep the rest away from me!!

you really want to know all mine hun??!!!
- idiots who dont know the rules of the school and wander round on the outside track, halt in gateways blocking the track, dont pass left to left and are generally rude
- people who leave their horses muck around on the yard ad dont clear it up
- people who dont pick up thier horses poo from the school after using it
- ignorant people who turn their horses out 24/7 on loads of grass and then wonder why it gets colic
- people who dont understand why their horse is a total nightmare when they feed it up to the eyeballs and it hardly gets any work
im sure there is many more but theyve left me at the moment!

Yep all of those, and the clipping one AND people that GOB their horses for a rider error!!!!!!!!!!
My horse is barefoot - but purely because she has superb hard feet
I too dislike the BAREFOOT brigade, in particular those numpties who think that after a 5 day course they can then do as good a job as their farrier who took five years to learn about foot balance
Also get really really irritated by people who do not understand school etiquette, sorry but if you are doing affiliated you should KNOW
Am equally if not more angered by those who know the etiquette but think they own the arena - don't you just love it when you beat them
People who buy a horse without any idea of how to look after it and refuse to ask for advice for fear of loosing face.
I could go on and on and on and on.............................................................
Kids who jump there ponies every day then they dont jump at a show and they wonder why! I agree with that.
Also people who have the cheek to say to me they cant ride both there horses as they dont have time when they work half a day! And I do a full day and ride both horses and event!! DO NOT expect sympathy from me when you do not even work a full day and could be done before I even get there!!!!
I have loads, but probably my worst is ill fitting and unneeded tack, seriously annoys the hell out of me!Bits too low/high, bits too big/small, saddle too long, too far forward.......list is endless!!!!!

There seems to be a trend where saddles are sitting up horses necks, even at pony club an instructor took Katie's saddle off and shoved it up Bee's neck!! Hate it!!
People who think they NEED a 16.2 - 17.2 hh horse when they are 5' tall in heels and their feet come just under the saddle flaps. And so many other things...
People who look down on me because I am perfectly happy just hacking and doing a riding club level shows. Ooooh, and people who take the bridle off their horse and yank it so that it clanks against their teeth.
Ive said it before but -
People who think that their way is the only way! UMM, NO. all horses are not the same, they DO NOT all have exactly the same needs/wants/personalities. so if i look after my horse this way, but you look after yours another way, it doesnt mean i am automatically wrong.
Oh, and people who discriminate against others for the equipment they use when they know nothing about the rider and horse - it might actually be there for a reason! i use a 3 ring gag - shock horror - i also defy anyone to say that my hore is unhappy in it or that it is unnecessary!
- people who knock all RS and place them in the "rubbish category" - there ARE some very good ones out there and then because you haven't had your own horse or whatever, that you're a rubbish rider stuck in dead end lessons. I've been at my RS now 6 years and am learning a great deal by riding horses including an ex advanced eventer
- people who never say thankyou despite the small fact you've worked your arse off in the pouring rain since 8am that morning (it's now 6pm), you didnt have a lunch break, dealt with all the clients' queries and you and just 1 other person got all the horses ready for 100+ clients.
Just wish people realised that without the help on the yard floor, the RS wouldn't be able to function
- owners who arn't honest about the horse's capabilties, schooling levels and what they really want you to do with your horse
- people who cant understand nervous/lacking in confidence riders. You think I enjoy being nervous?

Perhaps they get it from riding instructors? I'm 5ft3 and they always insisted on putting me on 16hh+ beasties even after I'd persistantly said that ~14hh is the height I feel most confortable and confident on!
Showing - judges who are blatantly biased and never tell you why you have come a certain place - dressage at least you know why you got what you did.
Dressage - Horses that are too flashy and do not track up. Also the obsession with crank bridles and other paraphernalia. The trainer hogging space in the arena.
Eventing - The obsession with gadgets and gizmos. Fat horses doing intro. People who have won a few times at Intro and PN and then never trying to go higher.
SJ - the bling and hogging of practice jumps.
Stable Management - New age horsemanship, the obsession with treating your horse like a human.
People who tell me "You're so lucky to have a horse".....grrrrgrrrrrrgrrrrr There is no luck about it. I have worked hard, don't smoke, drink or go out. I rarely spend money on myself and waited almost 50 years before I got my girl.
At current yard; people who buy horses because livery is cheap, without taking into consideration shoeing ("What do you mean it has to be done every six weeks?!!") vaccinations ("don't think I'll bother") worming (ditto) coggins tests (compulsory every 8 weeks for anyone who leaves yard!) and sometimes they don't even buy any tack, hoping to borrow yard or another owner's stuff!!
Also at same yard people who ride horses into the ground at weekend with no consideration for how unfit they are and basically treat them like machines.
Also (sorry for rambling) w@nkers at same yard winge about me not being a resident but having a stable, yet when one becomes suddenly available, nobody wants it....
Oh, I also get irritated by people who don't realise quite how fabulous, beautiful and talented PF is! (almost everyone who comes on to yard, although everyone at shows can see how fabby she is!)
I hate flash nosebands that are incorrectly fitted.
Bits that are too small
saddles that don't fit
rugs that don't fit
When you get marked down at a grading for your mare not having a decent topline (FFS she's got the MOST enormous [*******] foal by her side and as topline is changeable I don't see how it should pack so much punch for a broodmare!!!
)
People who overfeed and then can't control thier horse or results in lammi/colic/etc....
People who think it is safe to tow trailers with cars and small 4x4's
People who assume I know [****] all and talk down to me
I'm getting angry now - I'm going to go and chill with my ponies.......
That's a long list but I agree whole-heartedly with all of those, and can add two more:
Loud people: and in particular loud people who talk the talk (usually when they're stood by the scoreboard, reviewing someone else's performance) but so obviously can't walk the walk (when you see them on a horse later in the day!)
Ringside experts: it's soooooo easy when you're not actually the one doing it, isn't it? I'll sit and watch Burghley and think I know why something went wrong for a rider, but I really haven't got a clue what that particular moment in time felt like from their perspective.
