OK so, have been eventing my mare and due to an injury (my other horse kicked her) she will be off work for several months, maybe even forever. So I am considering putting her in foal. looking at millions of stallions. and no idea.
Her details. Bay 17.1hh, good walk and canter. not good trot- un-active, downhill, boring. Amazing jump. Sj 1m30 at home, XC BE novice. I really would like to improve her paces, especially trot. Id like something with a really active hind leg, and very uphill.

Confirmationally,A little heavy of bone, would like a bit more quality. She has a large head, and long back.So id like a short back stallion with small head. She stands over the front over the front of her legs, so id like legs that dont go diagonally, must be straight and vertical. From the front her legs are fairly staright. she moves fairly straight. Her pelvis tilts forwards a little, so its harder to engage her hind legs. I think if her confirmation was better in these ways, then the dressage would be better, but the paces still would need improving. Her neck is also a little low set.

Ive probably made my poor mare sound absolutely awfull, but its just me trying to be very clear about what I want. She has always done her job very well!! Any suggestions welcome.

Price wise. Prefere nothing too expensive, as she is a maiden, and we are now in the tail end of the season!!! Must be AI only.

Young stallion, but hugely impressive I think - would probably refine a heavier mare, plenty of back end action in trot and a lovely head to boost. I used the stud before and they are very good and helpful. Only problem, because he is in Germany, it's probably not that practical to see him in the flesh and unless you do, then you can never be sure of the limb conformation... The German marketing machine is very convincing!

I still like him though :D

Maybe a inkling of your mares breeding/type and what you would like to maybe refine her with?

she is a hunter type. I dont care what breed. as long as it meets the criteria iv highlighted.

The irst stallion that pops into my head for what you are looking for is Wolkenderry. He certainly has an active hind leg and is uphill. The only thing is i don't know whether he has any nominations left on him. His owner is on here Jaxmath i think

www.wolkenderry.com

Look at the news page there is a video he is stunning. My mare scanned in foal to him

On the other hand you could look at using a good moving TB stallion. Groomsbridge May I is throwing some seriously good stock and is avaliable a lot of the time for semen collection.

I have used both these stallions and their owners are very helpful.

Keep us posted on your decision

Wish Upon A Star seems to really stamp his stock, judging from the photos posted on this forum. Not too expensive, proven in sport and super conformation, including a very pretty head and good limbs.

Bloody hell!! You are aware of your mare!, and rightly so, well done. In the event of no pics, and were she mine, then I'd be looking at horses by Mytens.

I know of two, and one of them is Watermill Swatch. He's in Ireland, he is refined, and they will do chilled semen. There is another, but best you talk to Andypandy. Research will find him!

Alec.
