doing dressage on sunday - i am really crap at it!- my worst score is 50.4% ......my best isn't much higher....but it's a day out LOL. i am offically the crappest rider at my yard, i was asked today why i bother

so what's your worst score??!

About 45% in an affiliated Medium test - came down the centre line, halted at X, meant to proceed at collected trot, but horse reversed at speed, reared, reversed some more, span round......then proceeded at collected trot. Test didn't go too badly after that, a little tense perhaps with a couple of unwanted flying changes, until the halt at the end of the test when she did another 180degree spin, and ended up with her tail facing the judge - luckily she had a sense of humour - not my finest moment in the dressage arena!!!!

Not sure about my worst overall score, but the first time I did a Novice test I scored -2 for a counter canter. Not sure what the judge was thinking, as it should either be 0 for not performed, or deduct 2 from the rest of the mark if you go wrong... I got both!

Didn't think you could actually get a negative score in dressage

. The most irritating thing was that I actually did the counter canter - we checked back on the vid afterwards!

Ha ha ha ha

I have only ever done 1 Dressage test on Motor and that was 15 years ago .... I was 5th out of 5

Here is my score sheet .... I was not that good

47% on my first ever attempt at dressage. I had done the walk and trot and come 2nd, so foolishly entered the prelim having not even looked at the test and got my friend to call for me.

My pony doesn't do left canter, and if he gets stage fright doesn't do canter at all, then suddenly reverts to manic gallop for a few strides, I can't do left and right or pay attention to instruction, so it was perhaps not the best idea. I was happily trotting round the edge of the arena when the bell went and it suddenly occured to me that I had to do a test, and I giggled all the way through, went the wrong way, managed some manic canter and the most pathetic shuffly trot you've every seen!! Still - we gave it a go

46.9% in a prelim.. Horse fell over..

Ditto, but I managed a whopping 49%...on Saturday!
Ponio was very wound up & bounced around the test, I forgot when to come back to walk and he fell over his own feet in walk on a long rein. I think we're getting worse with every test we take. On the plus side, at least he was going somewhere for once and not crawling along. Oh well, I enjoyed it.

Elimination

The horse walked quietly as anything into the arena then proceeded to do airs above the ground for about 5 minutes
blush.gif
The worst thing was he decided on the way put that the white boards were terrifying and refused to leave

Oh god, thanks guys. I'm about to do a test on Saturday and I'm absolutely bricking it
crazy.gif
tongue.gif
. At least I know that if it goes pear shaped (based on tonight's lesson that's far from impossible!) I won't be alone!
Worst test ever: 45% for a Prelim - the mare was terrified of the judge's caravan and wouldn't go closer to it than B or E
shocked.gif
blush.gif
! The judge's comment was: 'I'm sure the test would have been much better if the caravan wasn't there'. Uh, thanks, talk about stating the obvious ha ha!
grin.gif

lol I love the stories...my worst isnt too bad to be honest ..it was the 1st ever test my new girl did and she got 60.90%. 1st time she had ever been in an arena, was a real superstar, but there was a case of knees round ears as we got near the judges car lol.

smile.gif

You know youve made my day, Im just about to start again competing and my boy is so so spooky, Ive been dreading it. We took all the boards out when he reversed at speed shying at a drinks machine last time we competed.
What I love most about your posts is you all had a great time.
grin.gif

I have conveniently erased it from my memory, but one mark was a zero, the writer just put "Oh dear, naughty horse, but well sat anyway!" I also got a "whoops, where are you off to?!" and a "Beautiful extended trot, shame it was meant to be walk" the Judge obviously had a sense of humour.
smile.gif

Burtondog, I am CRYING here at your account. Please do tell all!

I am loving this post

Haven't even attempted DR on Tara yet (it's not our forte lets just say!!)

I just checked and my lowest score with April was 56.4% in our first Novice together. She was a DR horse though so relatively speaking that was a very low score for her and was due to my crap riding lol!
I'll be chuffed if me and Tara get over 50%
grin.gif

I actually jumped out of the arena once and couldn't convince the horse to go back in. When I got my sheet back the first two movements were fine then all it said was
" 2- left arena - good scopey jump"

grin.gif
We only do dressage now when we have to.
tongue.gif

My lowest score was a 50.something % the first at Medium level. My horse decided to rear in halt at the begining of the test, piaffe during all walk work, and REFUSED to go straight along any long side! She was a little wound up to say the least.

I got the same sort of score with Viento the first time I took him out. He went around like a coiled spring throughout the whole test and freaked everytime he saw a board, mirror, the judges box and plant pots!

I am going to mark this thread as sonething to refer back to when I do my first prelim at the end of the month

I am expecting to get some 0's for our canter as madam is not very 'off my leg' shall we say
tongue.gif

I don't know what my worst overall score was but I have scored a zero. By the time I got to that move I had lost the will to live and really didn't care that I didn't get in to canter. LOL
We are a lot better than that now. LOL
grin.gif

Keep persevering, if you are enjoying yourself and having fun at the parties the rest is just time, patience and hard work!!
grin.gif

53. something or other % I'm no dressage diva and just usually laugh my way though it cos I aint got a clue
blush.gif
(in a discreet manor) although my last dressage test sheet said in the notes part ''nice grin!''
grin.gif

I went to do a basic dressage test at a venue i normally go jumping at. Well Horsey thought it was all terribly exciting and we got a big fat zero for coming down the centre line bronking, LOL
Rest of the test wasn't much better - can't remember the total score but it wasn't very good!

Falling off at a walk on a long rain is not as hard as you think! I've done it various time but never actually in the arena
laugh.gif
I assume something spooked the horse and it shot out from under the rider?

If you're relaxing and asking the horse to stretch down it's very easy to be left poised in mid air while your horse is 2 metres to the left!

my worst was 45.something% at my first novice but the judge was really mean and marked everyone really low, I think the lowest in that class was low 30s%, but I still managed to come 8th on my score?!
grin.gif

I scored a 42% in an Affiliated Novice, all the other competitors were very flash and it was the furthest I'd travelled to compete and my mare just felt the need to be an absolute whotsit and show me up as a complete cretin, thank god nobody knew me, I do remember she wanted to show the judge the underside of her front feet and squeaked when I asked for canter, very loudly followed by a large fart!
She was a great leveller, every time I thought I'd breeze a competition she'd be horrid. She the first bay ned in my siggie and she could also be a complete star, but only when she wanted!!

Not had a really low score but my son did a walk and trot test (one of his first) he started off with a 9 for his entry (taf was really on one and i was having difficulty concentrating on reading the test as i was thinking how great he looked) then we went onto a circle in walk and got a 7, then it was time to trot and taf thought the white marker boards were for playing hopscotch and spun round jumping in and out of the ring (most fabulous trot i have seen him do, however needless to say elimination was inevitable!
Poor Josh, taf had a whale of a time though!
