What's the highest you've jumped?

Probably about 1.10m on my current horse. He could probably do better now as he had hock problems. But he has a dirty stop so whether I trust him to jump it is another matter!

When I was at college I jumped 90cm for the first time, we were doing two fences in a dog leg round to a grid, the 90cm fence was the second in the dog leg and I got so excited that I'd jumped it I forgot all about the other jumps!

3ft9 - chase me Charlie as a teenager on a 14.3 welsh cob that didn't like jumping but on that day he had a personality transplant and jumped out of his skin... I was pooing myself... Never ever again ...

I honestly don't know as the biggest I've jumped have been hedges out hunting, I never got off and stood next to them. Biggest show jump, probably about 3'9? Never been very good at show jumping, always scared me more than xc.

On purpose or by accident? On purpose, about 2'9". By accident, probably about twice that. Once when a horse I was on jumped back into his field from standing whilst i was fiddling with stirrups. I had one foot in, one foot out, and a finger on the reins. I almost stayed on.

And then a couple of years ago I was on a green horse who hadn't done much jumping. We put a tiny little cross pole for her to trot over and she took it like a 1.5m spread. I didn't stay on that time either. She's a bit bonkers though - we took her back to lunging over trotting poles after that and she jumped the lot in one go. A year later, having gotten her to understand fences, a friend of mine took her cross country training and she tried to jump all the steps in one leap. At least she's a trier!

In competition (i.e SJ) up to 1.15, however in the summer whilst schooling bareback (due to saddle issues) we jumped a course of 1.20 (friend and I got a little carried away whilst setting up beforehand and then put them up again, then measured afterwards...) anyway jumping this bareback feels amazing because you can feel the muscle moving underneath you. Out hunting we jump hedges in the range of 5-6ft (once again we usually go for it..only to be informed by others afterwards of theri precise heaight afterwards..and realisation whilst going over)..Not bad for a 13'2

although possibly proves that i' a loony!

Show Jumping, I think was about 1m15 as a single fence years ago in a fun Chase Me Charlie Lesson at a Riding School! I have only really ever jumped courses of up to about 95cm. Out hunting, me and my 15 hands Appy recently jumped a 5 bar gate which was roughly 1m20 and we've jumped hedges up to this height too, so I would say 1m20 (4ft) is my absolute highest.

Did a "higher and higher" with my horse the other week over a spread to see how high he could jump and ended up at a 5ft (1.50m?) spread before I decided that was enough and I was not going any higher :p ! photo doesn't do justice of how scary it was.

Jumped a lot of big hedges that had drops and were 5ft or a little bit over on the landing side. Not bad for a 15.2hh overgrown pony !

Back in my youth my little pony and i cleared a pole on top of a big barrel, no idea what height that would be but thats the highest. I used to love jumping on him, bigger the better. I wish i had hunted him!
Same here on my 12.1 sec c rowan, cracking little pony she was, ive never felt safe enough on any other horse to jump that height again.

Not with me but I did once witness a 12.2 clear top wing! Mightily impressed was an understatement!

Well this really . . . just because you (and/or the horse) CAN jump four foot, doesn't mean it should . . . for all sorts of reasons.

P

I don't intend to do this regularly at all! :'P If I'm honest, I didn't have very good brakes at that particular moment, so my pony sort of decided that we'd jump it. I on the other hand wanted to go through the gate (non-jumping route), not really over the hedge. All though I did do it a few times XC schooling back in August, I never knew it was that big, as I said I thought it was around 1 meter :S

Compared to others on here a tiny 1m10! however I absolutely know my horse can jump far higher as he jumped it without even looking at it. It is me who stopped him as I felt that any higher and my position would go out the window and wouldn't be any good for him! (massively paranoid rider)

4ft bareback when playing chase me charlie on day at the yard next to me, great fun when you're a teenager but don't think I'd have the bravery to try it again! And I stayed on ;)

1.30m on my then 5yo horse in a puissance at a christmas show. I had no idea of the height so just kept jumping. We had a stop at the 1.40m one as he announced the height and I bricked it lol. Well, that and my horse probably being a bit tired! :)

I think it was about 1.25m, some holes up from 1.20m but not big enough to be 1.30m.

Hats off to people jumping over 6ft hedges out hunting, I would probably fly backwards out of the saddle :D

I did 4'6" in chase me charlie on my old 12.2hh Welshie. He was amazing and would jump all of the hedges with the girl that hunted him. He had an amazing pop, but only in the clear round at a show...as soon as he went into a ring, we'd get eliminated at the first fence for 3 refusals. Little beggar...he was called Mischief for a reason!

Biggest courses I have jumped were on ponies! POYS Talentspotters classes (4 over 5 days I think) in 2005 with a 14.2hh... a v.strong 1.20m in the first round, think in the third round it reached 1.35m, I didn't get that far though!!

On horses the biggest course I have done is 1.15m (jump off of a 1.05m!). I have a 4yo now jumping her first BN's... I think they look big now!

Course of sj fences 1.30m single sj fence 1.50m, x country course 1.10m out hunting ive jumped 6 bar gates & 1.60m hedges. Sold my wonderful mare in the summer but hoping her filly is going to follow in your mums hoofprints & b just as talented :)

Jumped some very big hedges out hunting. The sort where you have time to contemplate just how long it's taking to reach the other side. I hunt a 14.3hh Connie as well, so the 5-6ft hedges seem even bigger!

Jumped a 1m40 square oxer out a grid, 1m35 single fence and 1m05 courses with 1m15 jump offs.

My ponies are cool :)

5'3" on my 14.2s back in the day - these days, competitive up to 1m, schooling 1.15m, I'm getting braver as I get back into it but more years of not being competitive than I care to admit to have left me a rather wide yellow streak these days :o
We had a little old 11.3 that was a bit of a living legend back in the 80's - we got up to 4'3" bareback with him at home before giving up because I wasn't convinced he was going to go over rather than under the pole :o But he held the pony high jump record at West Mercia many years ago with a former jockey having cleared 5'2" - as I said he was a true legend :D

4'6 at a riding school Chase Me Charlie. I was borrowing the riding school's lovely strawberry roan cob, who was just about 14hh on his tip toes... The fence kept on going up and all of the liveries on their posh SJers and warmbloods were dropping out, until there were 2 of the liveries and me and my friend, on her Fell pony left. Can just remember riding up to the fence thinking ohhhhhhhhhhhhh god! Bless the boy, he popped over it, and we very happily retired there.

I used to have a 12hh welsh cross who would regularly jump 3 - 3'6 without any hesitation (on his behalf - a lot of doubt on mine thanks to his dubious record!)

I'm a 'logs out hacking' person, but did have a little 13.3 jumping pony once. We used to sneak onto an XC course, but they weren't very big. Then one day the owner swapped the standard bales we jumped every time for big ones. I didn't notice until it was too late, but the pony did... and gleefully accelerated, putting in a HUGE leap - well at least one of us knew what he was doing!
