What's Your Occupation?

Accountant. Well there had to be one, sorry

Been at the same company for 13 years doing different roles from risk management consultant to managing a Claims and Technical area. Currently a Business Analyst working on a large project within the Company. It helps pay the bills (well most of them) but if I had my own choice and money was not an issue, I would work with animals.

Technically, I'm a freelance business journalist but I just took a year off to do a creative writing for children MA at Bath Spa so I am hoping to get published. Failing that, to freelance in children's publishing. Husband is also a business journalist and he is keeping my girl going, bless him.

Account Manager for an IT services company

And

Director of a company manufacturing horsey products, which I started with a friend about 10 years ago and which is also more or less full time. So I don't sleep these days lol.

Any guesses which I prefer?

My job is fairly well paid, sometimes I have to work long hours but mostly not; but it's not very flexible. I'd like to freelance but not quite sure where to start - and I do kind of like a regular paycheck

Lots of teachers on here, it seems to be popular with horsey folk, which implies a good work/life balance.

Area Sales Manager for a UK manufacturing company. Not on half term.

OH is a secondary school teacher, so she is on half term...cow!

Son is a graphic designer, so not on half term.

Daughter is teaching assistant (while she works out what she really wants to do), so is on half term......holiday in the New Forest (but is not horsey).

Does anyone else see a pattern here?

HR Manager for an engineering company. Love my job and keeps the hoss in the style he has happily become accustomed to!! Don't know how he'll cope in the few months I'm off earning a pittance on maternity leave!!

Owner with OH of pet and equine supplies shop - everything from numnahs and collars through to feed and bedding. We seem to have the work/life balance pretty good, just coming into the busy part of the year, lots of heavy lifting and deliveries to do! Other jobs have been general office stuff (can be good depending on the other staff), events organiser, interesting and can be frenetic, and driving instructor - I thought I could work it around my horse, but generally people want lessons between 4pm and 8pm, when I wanted to be home or riding!

Currently a groom (event/livery yard), trying to break into the finance industry with the ultimate aim of becoming an accountant! I have an equine degree, too... I don't suppose accountancy could get much further from grooming...

At the moment I'm studying full-time for my MSc and working in a hairdessers as a receptionist 20 hours a week. Not much of a work/life balance but as long as I get to ride my horse most days I'm happy!

I am a final year student in Bsc(hons) Equine Dental Science, however now I am considering doing something different.....maybe go into equine nutrition after this degree?
I am interested in dentistry and nutrition....doing my final year dissertation on faecal fibre length/digestible energy available before and after dentistry in horses....but who knows!

during uni i have 2 part time jobs: working in the library to pay for my food shopping! and working at a national hunt yard to carry on working around horses as I can't afford my own!
