When your world is falling down around you...

I know what you mean. I lost my best friend this year and the hole just cant be filled! I still have my little mare who is on loan but I see most days....I love dearly but have found myself pushing her away :(

Roy boy said thank you all VERY much for telling him he's so beautiful, and asked if you wouldn't mind telling the new youngster that he is still the most beautiful horse on the yard, no matter what certain young upstarts might think, that would be fab!

To all those who have lost their best friends...

When Cadbury was killed I gave up on horses completely. He was my whole world, and it was my fault that he died. I didn't see how I could ever love another horse as much, or find one who would love me back the way he did.

It took a lot of time, but I found my Roy boy, and I don't feel guilty about loving him, which I thought I would.

I adore my other horses, and have a special bond with each of them, but Roy saved me when I didn't think I could be saved, and so I think the others understand when he gets the odd extra pat or kiss.

I've been where you are, and it's a terrible place, but I promise you, it gets better. Cuddles from Roy and I xxx

What a super post about a super horse.
Ditto a previous poster. When i had depression badly late last year my docotor who knows me well told me to go out ride horses & walk dogs. Do things she knew would cheer me up.
The old phrase
"There is something about the outsdie of the horse that is good for the inside of a man" is so very true.
Where would we be without them.
x

Starzaan - that is a lovely story and you have certainly done him proud - he looks fabulous. Thanks for sharing his life with us.

My girl today has scoffed a bag of mints and given me sticky kisses in return - least her breath smells good. I love her with all my heart. :)

The marking on her leg says it all

Aww, I'm welling up now! I knew Roy was special, and that his gorgeouness wasn't easily maintained, but it's clear that you two are absolutely made for eachother and that he's your horse of a lifetime. I'm so glad you two have eachother 80)

There's even more?! I look forward to the million other anecdotes as they come along then 80)

Roy is gorgeous and what a fantastic relationship you have with him. Reading all this has actually made me look at my two again and realise how lucky I am instead of feeling just a bit jaded with all the weather & the work that winter brings.

Thank Roy for the cuddles :) (and you, too, obviously), I'm still missing Dylan horribly and am mostly avoiding the stables altogether, although I keep being told that I should be up riding my little sister's new horse. I DO NOT WANT TO.

Meep meep xx

Whata lovely story. It really annoys me that these amazing, talented horses, that have done so much end up in rubbish homes (obviously before you). My horse has only done local level and lower level affiliated, but its done everything I've asked, so it will be loved and homed for life. I guess these top level horses are just a money making machine to a lot of people. We had a couple of ex badminton horses where I did my AI that came to us looking like they wouldn't survive - one even had to be in a sling for a few days it was so weak.

WOW!! Roy really is a special, beautiful horse!

I had my own version of a 'Roy' he was my saviour, hero and best friend but I sadly lost him 10/11/2010.
The worst day of my life, I can not begin to describe the feeling I had when he was PTS, there was a huge whole ripped right out of me. And it will be there forever. He is missed everyday but it was his time.

Big hugs to all who have lost their 'special one' xx

I know this is an old post, but I've just been sent some photos that I think illustrate my love for my wonder horse better than I ever could with words.
I was feeling truly dreadful the other night, and went pottering out (again) in my pyjamas for a Roy cuddle, and ended up falling asleep wrapped up in a stinking fleece rug. Matt came out two hours later, convinced that I was dead, and took these photos.
Excuse the wild hair, black eyes, and ridiculously swollen face, but at least the Roy boy looks his usual perfect self...

Ahh. I think we can safely conclude, from the way he is looking after you, that the feeling is quite mutual!

How are you feeling duck?

Alrighty thank you... although the withdrawal symptoms are quite possibly even worse than the original reaction! But the Spagster assures me that they will only go on for a couple more weeks, and then I'll start to really feel better...so I can't complain tooooo much...

YOU, can complain all you want... although we might not listen, go tell it to the whelks ;) x x Good to see you back on here lovely pics and fab story not sure who's luckiest you or Roy :)

Withdrawl syptoms... did I miss something else? You off those druggies now?

Hoping things are getting a bit quieter up there for you now :)

Awww gorgeous pics, glad to hear you're alive, i was starting to get a wee bit worried you hadn't posted in a while!! Looks like roy looks after you as much as you him, what a beautiful relationship you have. And he is handsome boy!

Glad to hear the spag is working his magic, and fingers crossed you'll be up and hunting before you know it:D

Take care chicken xx

Thank you squishies!
Yes Queenbee, withdrawal is a bitch! I was in hospital for Christmas (boooo) and the doctors worked out that they've been giving me WAY too much of one drug, and have ended up giving me "Cushing Syndrome"... which doesn't mean I get curly hair and wee a lot, it means I get a lovely swollen face, neck, back, chest, and have to be weaned off the drugs. I'm nearly there - just over a week to go, but my GOD withdrawal symptoms are horrific.
I have a whole new kind of sympathy for heroin addicts now. There have been times when I would gladly have sold my organs if someone could make it all stop!

I am with you on that one! Coming off tramadol and morphine was horrendous!!!

That second picture is one of the most touching I have ever seen. What a special boy Roy is, and what a bond you share.

Lovely pics! :)
Glad to hear you are on the mend however slowly and I hope the withdrawral symptoms begin to fade soon.

Erm the Docs probably mentioned this but becareful of transferring your addiction to something else. Had a friend come off morphine after a bad accident and become addicted to 'Wethers Original Toffees' - try finding a help group for that one! :o

Yep...I'm NOT looking forward to coming off the morphine...or the others!! They're cutting them out one at a time, so that my head doesn't pop off... but I think Werther's Original Toffees sound like my sort of addiction!
