Who'd like Horse Benefit?!

I can only assume few of you actually know how much child benefit actually is. A benefit which btw was available to everyone with a child, regardless of income before recent reforms. So I suspect the vast majority will have already received their child benefit, via their parents claims as children.

Anyone born post 1946... so you'd have to be pretty old not to have benefitted from Child Benefit. According to some of the news reports it was to encourage families to have children after the depletion of the population due to the two world wars. Given we are now facing an elderly population issue with pensions and care, we need all the new young babies to pay for it especially as those in the middle have been hit by student loans to repay and are putting off having children.

there is a dog benefit so why not a horse benefit too? :D

I was told the other day that the reason lots of people on benefits or who live on the street have dogs is because they get extra benefits as a food allowance for the dog. Not sure if it is true, but it wouldn't surprise me

What nonsense!
You can't get benefit of any kind without an address, so hardly likely if you are homeless. And you certainly can't get benefit for a dog, which is why so many are being left in animal shelters atm.
This is how ridiculous rumours start.

It's unbelievable that people actually believe the rumour (I've seen it on facebook:rolleyes:) that people get benefits for having a dog. You only have to think for a moment to realise such a thing would be totally unworkable and is quite obviously untrue.

Lot of daily mail readers about aren't there?

Quite.

Or horseloaner, your parents were so super rich (such as the royals etc) they didn't ever bother to claim it. And they're few & far between.
