Window shopping....

I love these threads too - not sure where you are based AE but I like the below

https://www.horsescout.com/horses-for-sale/profile/5363 - slightly straight hind leg but a great type.

https://www.horsemart.co.uk/16hh-grey-kwpn-4yr-old-mare/Horses/601741

https://www.horsemart.co.uk/2yo-col...erelsnest-nabab-de-rve-x-darco-/Horses/602505 - Too young for what you are looking for but if I had the spare cash right now I would get this colt. If thats what he looks like in his ugly 2yo phase, he will be beautiful as a 4yo!

Oh bu&&er ive not been on here much, sorry to hear about amber, she sems like a very special horse. I hope she recovers ok as it was lovely following your progress.

And exactly what I did in June 18 when L Fuzzy broke in the early May, hence B Fuzzy arriving untried and seen on video only in mid June that year.....
I totally get it too :)
Oh I SO didn’t know you did that! That’s brilliant. I see a pattern! ?

AE now you simply have to buy unseen and risk it ?

Unfortunately she was also an undeclared shiverer who arrived with a horrendous cracked hoof disguised with fillers. I wouldn't touch that seller with a proverbial bargepole even if there wasn't a virus around.

.

In contrast my friend has a super Connie from her and I know of two others who do to. I do think she’s very overpriced now though!

I'm in the market for a giveaway or bargain if anyone comes across one. I fancy rounding up the herd to three. Hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your thread AE, you get first call if one suits us both.

I really just saw 2 photos on Facebook and her breeding, asked for a trot up in hand video, then arranged transport and payment ? However, I had shown her mother many years ago as a yearling! (B was dropped when her mum was 20, and B was 8 when she arrived the 1st time)

Spot on, have messaged. It's a few years since I did a rehab, the in hand walking would keep me busy for the summer!

That's a really smart horse. It looks like an Opposition, message me if it is. Looks like classic mis-matched front feet that could come right with the right attention

I went a step further. I knew my beloved pony was going to have to be PTS so I bought another one and had him delivered the day before the original was PTS. Callous or what? It kept me sane, allowed me to make the right decision for him and got another pony out of a rubbish situation.

When that pony broke and had to be retired, I did the same again. Bought another pony before I left him go.

I would do the same again if the situation arose.

There is a ridden-horse shaped hole in my life so I have started window shopping. (For me a vague intent to start looking on a Monday can be a new horse settled in by Friday as if I see The One I want it NOW) So if anyone wants to help me look, feel free to make suggestions.

It is very frustrating that I sold Deedee who would have been perfect!! But selling her on made total sense at the time, she went to a great home, it was a huge relief and we don't have crystal balls. It is what it is. Sigh.

So anyway: My budget is about 4K. My hopes are for a 'spare' horse to tide me over for a year or 2 while Amber is recovering and then sell on so a sane, safe (sellable) horse who is still good enough for me take eventing and have fun on for a couple of seasons. Age 4+. 15HH +

Prices seem insane. I have sent pms to a few and they have had several people reply that their lightly backed and ridden away 4yo Connies or Connie X horses are 8K. Dolly was half that just over a year ago at that age. Not sure if I got a bargain with her (it still seemed quite a lot to me for an unproven 4yo) or whether prices have gone through the roof for some reason.

So I am now looking at Ireland. Any thoughts in Irish Sport Equine? Anyone know them? There are a few posts but mixed feelings on here. Dodgy Dealers seems generally positive.
Mark Cramb knows of a nice 16.1 gelding so give him a shout! My neighbour was possibly interested but think she would prefer a mare!

Sorry, late to the party... I think you have moved on from Irish Sport Equine, but I will add my 2p anyway... I bought an ISH from there. She arrived with a hoof wall defect in a front foot which looked like a dent. I was worried that it might be white line disease/gravel & spent quite a bit getting the foot xrayed. It was all okay, but when the dent started growing out, she then had a huuuuuuuge crack downwards in the front wall. She should not have been sent over like that. Then she also had shiver, and I found that out by getting whacked on the chin by her hock when trying to field paste her back foot & was off work for 2 weeks with concussion. I contacted Gertie iro both things. I wanted to be refunded for the foot xrays as I had been sent a defective horse & she said that it was up to me how I choose to spend my money and nothing to do with her. Re the shiver: she said that they had never seen any shiver. Summer also bit me extremely hard through a thick fleece and I still have a dent/scar on my arm. Thank goodness I didn't have bare arms. And she once charged at me, picked me up (luckily by my coat) and pinned me up against the fence. Sold as 'vice free'. She came with a '5 stage vetting certificate' on which the absolute bare minimum of details had been completed.

I am also a serial horse-breaker. Catembi - lost in 2007 to protein losing enteropathy. Followed by Adrian - EPSM, Trev - ulcers caused by KS, followed by unsuccessful KS surgery, then Summer, as above, and now Cody - n/p1 EPSM again. And possibly some more genetic things - currently pondering doing a PSSM type 2 hair genetic test but it's $299 (not available over here). I have 4 horses at home - Trev who quite likes doing a bit of work as long as it's in walk, so leg yield, SI, a step or two of half pass, Cody as above, who ought to be doing a lot of work as it would be good for him except covid has put the brakes on my arena build, a v round & cheeky unbacked Shetland which I am thinking of backing but not sure I'm brave/stupid enough, & my main 'riding horse' atm is a rescue New Forest that I backed last year and who is about 12.2. So don't worry, AE, you are not the only serial horse breaker. If I had more money I would have bought horses more frequently & my fields would now be standing room only with field ornaments...

How about HQ 229204?

That would be worth a think about. Depends how ‘cheeky’ he is, but solid little duns (provided not too naughty) will usually sell well. The benefit of that one is that you can get on and go as soon as competing starts which I think will suit you better than gambling on bringing on a youngster. He might also prove suitable for the girls to grow into as well

I felt he was suspciously cheap though if he has placed top 10 BE and qualified for Champs. I have looked at a few ready made BE90/100 horses and they have always been miles over budget or older than I want.

PM me his BE name when you find out.
I googled the phone number and it looks like being sold by an instructor/pro who I don’t think has competed the horse (or certainly not recently).
I think you will find the advert is embellished. Which doesn’t mean he won’t be a fun stop gap for you, but my gut feel is he isn’t a grassroots horse. He is possibly also quite naughty! Worth a call and some digging though

I do like the HHO Horse Detective Agency!! Very helpful. Thank you :D

It might be Sir Atticus Finch. If it is why did he not compete in 2019? Also he’s only done a handful of 80’s and if he’s had a competent flat rider on him it’s pretty easy to win an 80 on a 20’s score and wagon them round small fences.

I still think worth a call and find out the story though

It is odd - he was retired after dressage for his only BE90 in June then stepped back down to 80 where he did well, but then did not compete in 2019 even though his rider and current registered owner was out competing at both 90 and 100 on other horses. So why leave him for a whole season? Unless they wanted to test him unaffiliated at 90 during 2019. I'll see if I can find unaff results for him. Maybe he is neither a BE horse nor a safe RC/PC horse but falls between the 2. Not really good enough for the first and not easy enough for the 2nd?
