Wintery Weekend plans?

Super pony, AE, fantastic photos. Well done Katie.
I’ve been to sommerford once, few years ago, it’s a 3 hour drive for us! Maybe one day i’ll be back

Sounds like everyone has had a good weekend one way or another! I have decided not to do xc clinics any more but go schooling with friends instead as I find it much more productive so I can understand your problem Michen!
Winnie was absolutely fantastic, she went really well was pretty good with the vet and flew round 65k easily at 12.1k an hour. She got a grade 1 too which I was really pleased with.

not competing , but, our rescue celtic warrior had his 4th training session on the lunge, it was a big day for us, three years ago this april he was in a sling and at deaths door, he had his saddle on for the first time, walk trot and a little canter, he was chilled, responded to every voice command, a total star, feel so happy this evening

Well done Katie and Dolly, this pics are awesome.....

Likewise michen, they are sizeable fences.

Great round chippers, lucky you jumping on grass..... I wouldn't like to see him fatter though, silly judge.

Fionn is still coughing (vet coming to scope him tomorrow), but we had a lovely afternoon taking 7yo and pony to a WH show.

He did the 50cm class and jumped clear. There were loads of clears so amazed he was pulled in 1st 😁😁

Then they inserted a few fillers and they went back in for 60cm class, jumped clear, and pulled in 1st in that too...

We've had our problems with Daisy in the past, but now she has really settled in they are firing on all cylinders at the moment

Here is the video of 60cm...

Well I’ve taken the plunge and reregistered Honduraz with BD. I’m taking Blue along to our next outing because why not? 🤷‍♀️

Course build tomorrow, which I’m not looking forwards to, then we’re at mid-week BS Wednesday. Not sure what I’m jumping yet but probably discovery and 1.05 if our lessons go to plan tomorrow.

Oh Fiona, they are adorable together! Two 1st's, how super :D
Well done Chippers! And yes WH wasn't too scary.. I rather enjoyed it ;)

Got a couple of videos but my dad was trying to watch and video and we all know how hard that is so seems he only caught me going over a few jumps, the rest was the floor :p

We had a fabulous dressage lesson on Sunday morning, feeling prepared for our BD next Sunday :)
Also got this photo of Lily whilst I was making feeds... that tash:p:p she is adorable.

Some great photos everyone. No horsey stuff for me this weekend as the bloke and I were in Edinburgh! But did sneak in a quick visit to her on the way home at the end of our five hour drive last night...

Magical moving images of Captain Carrot on Friday...

The rest of the weekend has been putting as many miles on the ponies as possible - mostly to combat the lard of spring. I did find a few xc fences to sneak Dae over, an old mill mound to pique my archaeological curiosity and had an unexpected stick and ball session with Carrot in my field yesterday (I wasn't even planning on riding her, it just happened!).

Great to see that most have had a good weekend! Fiona - Daisy is just too cute. I can imagine she could be naughty, she has that 'butter wouldn't melt' look about her! Michen - sorry to hear you didn't have such a good time on the xc bit of your camp, but the other parts sound fab!

I had fun with my boys this weekend. Pocholo is on full loan to a friend, but occasionally she asks me to hop on and on Saturday she asked if I could work on his half-passes as she did them for the first time in a lesson with a new RI during the week. Bless him, he really finds them difficult! But we got some good ones and then I took him around a convenient cross-pole course that had been left in the school. His loaner doesn't jump and he was sooo happy to be pointed at a fence, he took off from the first one a mile off and almost jumped me out of the saddle :D He's just so fun to ride, it was great to be on him again.

Then BD with Indio on Sunday. We've had a couple of lessons working on our big trot recently so I wanted to get that right. He felt better than ever and I was fairly pleased with the Elementary test although I still hate E53! No big mistakes but he lacked a bit of through-ness and suppleness on a couple of movements. The judge didn't like us at all and we dropped 3% from the other E53s we've done this year, even though it felt better. Ho hum. We only had 20 minutes between tests so I hopped off to give Indio a quick cuddle and a treat then back on for the Medium. The trot work felt great, much more uphill in the medium and extended and the judge agreed, including a 7 for extended trot! I didn't ride the half passes as well as normal, maybe I had lowered my expectations having ridden Pocholo the day before...so a little annoyed with the 6.5s for those as we are more than capable of 7 or higher. However I was very happy with our final score of 65.69% and very consistent, progressive comments compared with previous medium tests.

I'm really struggling with Elementary - I can't get consistent scores let alone improvement and I don't really enjoy the tests so I think I'm going to ditch it and focus on Medium (which is much more fun!). We seem to get more consistent comments and I know what to work on there. However I may keep an eye out for a DTM clinic and do Ele freestyle!

No photos as I was on my own, but here's one from a fabulous photoshoot we did with Fleur Churchill last year...

Last weekend before the wagon goes in for its new gearbox so hopefully the last quiet one as I’m getting a bit bored! Millie worked really hard last week so had Saturday off and then hacked yesterday.
Polly did some trot work this weekend and is looking and moving better than I could have hoped.

Br2 you looked so fab in WH video, turnout was spot on...

Well done jiffy 😃

Fionn got scoped this morning and there were dark flecks seen in his trachea, so he definitely has ingested something he shouldnt down his windpipe. Results back on Seem to see whether he needs antibiotics, steroids or both....

Fiona

Jiffy I found that too with Ele/Med, as long as you can go sideways and sit the trot then the Med tests flow so much better and are generally more fun to ride - do it while you can!

Thank you so much Fiona, we have done some show hunter classes before but never WH so it wasn't quite blind leading the blind... but kinda was:p:D
Also well done Ellz, great score for your first dressage test! x

just about survived my jumping lessons this afternoon. Blue was super and jumped the new fillers for the first time without any hesitation. Not sure putting him in his snaffle bridle was the best idea though as we had limited brakes 😅

Beau, on the other hand... let’s just say that my trainer agreed that there was no point continuing after the first stop 🙄
He’s going to hers tomorrow for a bit to try to see what the issue is. I don’t think he’s sore but the thought is always there in the back of my mind.

So no show tomorrow but I’m definitely going on Friday. On the plus side, I’ll have more time to spend on the new boy - back on board tomorrow 🙂

Loving all of the photos 😍

@j1ffy I really think it is only fair that you package up either Indio or Pocholo and send one to me!!!!

Pocholo’s loaner would be seriously displeased if he went, and I’m not letting go of Indio for at least two years (when his little nephew starts work!). I suspect Indio would like to get rid of me and find a better dressage rider though😂
