i've decided to move yards (once i've got the all clear from my little mare) anyway i've been to see both and wanted to make sure i'm not being blinded by what i want as apose to whats best for my horses.
Yard A is about 1/2 an hour from my house and is run by a older lady, who seem very knowledgeable. its a farm which is 100 arces
Pro's
- huge stables the smallest being 15ft by 15ft
- decent sand school which is raked daily
- hacking on the farm
- nice turn out with seperate mares and gelding fields
- cheap feed and bedding
- hayledge included in the £30 pw livery
- doesn't get very muddy in winter
- the feed all the horse at 7am for no charge and assitance's if required
cons
- no yard transport so would have to get my own to take mine to the vets
- quite far away as i don't drive
- no hacking off the farm really
Yard B is run by a farmer set on 200 acre farm but only about 30 arces as turnout, and is 15 mins from my house
pros
- gallops
- excellent hacking for miles
- hay and bedding onsite
- vets just literally across the road
- wormer included in the £28 pw
cons
- regular size 12ft x 12ft stables
- restricted to there hay (have fussy tb's)
- can only use certain bedding and not allowed shavings
- no assitants (bar other liverys)
- no knowledge/experiance person on site when things go wrong
- no transport
- wood chip school doesn't look overly cared for
