Ringworm is often raised. I am quite familiar with it having caught it off the family cat as a child. You can catch it too so I would also give it a little while but keep an eye on your own skin just in case
Had a good couple of weekends with Percy. Been for our first arena hire. Loaded, tacked up, got on and had a little school with zero stress or bother.
You can see here how exciting he found the whole experience…
Then this weekend we boxed up on our own (also without any drama) and went...
Agreed. I can’t get on off the floor, well I can but not in a manner that is good for my horse’s back! I’ll only get off if there is something I can use as a mounting block and I don’t trust a gate. Plus my weight would damage the hinges (I’m not that heavy but they aren’t designed for extra...
This. But maybe also scope for ulcers at the same time as it could be a quick win before letting him decompress. We’re going into winter soon anyway :(
Thought I would move in here to an appropriate thread
Went on our first arena hire today, aiming to keep everything calm with plenty of time. In my head even if we just loaded that was great and everything else was a plus.
Loaded without any hassle, unloaded without any hassle. Stood being...
What are your horsey community links like? My mare is for loan with a friend of a friend, I sent her “ad” to horsey friends and they put me in touch. At least they came with a sort of reference then too
Received vet notes from second opinion practise to send to the original one so they have a copy of the “no heart murmur” for his records.
Also asked them to pass onto first vet a thank you for being thorough but I was happy to not investigate as senior clinical lead from second opinion...
Back on board hacking today. After the vet on Thursday I got on with no one around and went for a little hack down the road before seeing 4 low level Chinooks coming and bottling it and heading home… he didn’t react.
First “Team photo” below. Not the best, he was tired and was fidgeting
I’m sorry to hear this. My Springer died suddenly due to suspected cancer last year at 8 years old. It was pretty traumatic and not something I would wish on anyone.
Good luck in your search xx
Thanks everyone. Whilst I was mostly sure this would be the outcome, or rather the vet wouldn’t be bothered about a low grade murmur. I am overjoyed!
Now to have an awkward conversation with other vet about why we won’t be having his heart scanned and doing an exercise ECG!! 😭
A little. But also the senior vet she went to for advice who said to bring him in for a work up without even hearing it. That’s a supervisory issue as she did ask for advice.
So go straight on, no one around so it was my first time riding completely alone! Good as gold! Better than his mother
