We need to do walk to canters to get him off my leg, leg yields to get him straight, transitions within the pace, then when we jump we jump a x pole a few times from a collected canter, then move him up and jump an upright making sure we keep the impulsion. Then the oxer a couple of times and if...
Two days of jumping means I have a lot to say so thought I’d do a full write up. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done one and I’m napped trapped so have nothing better I can do!
Saturday I had both horses entered into the 80 and 90 classes. Coolie was up first and he was fresh. I had plenty...
Anyone?
We have 2 days of show jumping Saturday and Sunday. Both horses entered Saturday, just one on Sunday and might take the other XC training while we are there. Hopefully it wont be too slippery and wet!
We had a great lesson yesterday at dressage club. Working on shoulder in and leg yields and bot felt good and looked good too! He was a bit tense and unsure, the weather was bad and the footing terrible which didn't help things but he tired SO hard and thats all I can ask.
Today out show...
We had a very stressy day at dressage. The first test had some really lovely moments and some tense and naughty moments too! I was happy with how I rode but didnt think we would do very well. We ended up 6th! With a great bit rosette too. Very very pleased. The second test was very stressy and...
We have a dressage comp on Sunday. Henry had a bath yesterday, hack out this morning, then I though I'll just pop this jump I have set up at an angle. Was perfect the first time, thought I should do it off the other rein and I couldn't see a stride. So rather than keep riding I took my leg off...
We had a FANTASTIC lesson today at dressage club. Henry has had a really easy week due to rain (2 bush rides!) and he absolutely could have been fresh and a bit wound up but no, he was a super star. He gave me some of the best work he has done so far and made it feel really easy. The coach and...
I rode until 35 weeks, by then the what ifs were very real and I was too big and uncomfortable! I jumped competitively up until 30 weeks, but I knew my horses inside and out and jumped heights I was 100% comfortable at. You have to do what feels right for you. Everyone makes different decisions...
We have had a great weekend! Lesson yesterday was fab, just what we needed. Henry feels like himself, just needed to spend money at the vet to get him feeling 100% and it was the magic we needed. We jumped some good courses in our lesson once I looked up.
Had a good time watching the XC last...
Hacking on Coolie today, show jumping lesson tomorrow with Henry, watching xc with friends tomorrow evening and Sunday both horses have a show jumping comp. Sunday is also Mother’s Day here so probably do something for that too
We had a flat lesson yesterday which was useful, but while Henry is sound, he clearly needs his coffin joints reinjected. He is booked in for a work up on Tuesday so he will have a quiet weekend hacking and light flatwork until then. Coolie is going to have a little jump to see how he is...
We had a successful day show jumping on Saturday, made some progress and worked out where we need to improve. He needs to be more in front of my leg, he has these hot thoroughbred moments and tricks me into letting him be behind the leg.
Then today we had a lesson and unpacked our problems...
