    Midges, midges and more midges

Has anyone else had sworms of midges the past couple of days? I seems like the moment we have had a dry couple of days all the midges have come to play. I turned my boy out early hours naked ( the horse not me!!) and come home from work to find him eaten alive covered in bites and clusters of...

    Funniest hacking encounters

I was out hacking the other day side saddle the other day and passed a child and father who were on the right of me (my legs are on the left) the child loudly asks father why I have no legs and how am I staying on. The father responds that they used to cut the ladies legs off in the Victorian...

Cremation for charity rescue horses?….a waste of money?

They will have a “clinical” waste bin, usually size of a skip. Any clinical waste such as bones, skins and bits that aren’t eaten such as brains of cattle because of BSE are put in this. A incineration company will then come and empty this. It can get rather “fragrant” in the summer if it’s...

Reolink camera - how to use in open?

I attached mine to a the gate post… Word of warning though they are addictive. You will find yourself checking on the horses constantly.

    Balmoral Equestrian (saddle fitters)

Not personally used their saddle fitting side but use their tack cleaning products and love those. I do know a couple of people who have used Nigel for saddles and they have all said he was really good and brought a wide range of saddles wit him.

Horse poo bricks for log burners

As I am currently defrosting from being outside chopping wood this afternoon I was Just wondering does anyone use or make horse poo bricketts for their fires at home? I’ve seen a few posts around about them and wondering is it a gimmick or do they work and are the worth the faff? Also would...

Do you have both a towing vehicle and a regular car?

I have two cars, I have my truck for towing and a fiesta for everyday. My fiesta is only £25 tax and under £150 insurance so for me it is far cheaper to run two cars than use my truck for everything. It also means when I do want to go to town or shopping (which I avoid like the plague) it’s much...

    Price for a good allrounder

Thank you everyone for your reply’s, it’s much appreciated. Dressage is BD, his trot is awesome and by far his best pace. Canter is an armchair canter but we do stuggle with counter canter as he will changes leg but we are working on it. . He also has no stable vices. Confirmation wise he is...

    Price for a good allrounder

Hi guys, I am potentially thinking of selling my pony due to change in circumstances and life getting in the way. However I have no idea on price, so was hoping to pick your knowledgable brains. He’s 8years old, warmblood x cob 15.3hh. Has manners to die for;clips without even needing to be...

Numnah / saddle pad that protects saddle flaps

I’m looking to pick all you wonderful peoples brains…. When I was a child (feels like many moons ago) I rode a pony for a lady, who had a saddle pad that had a “pocket” which the saddle flap that is in contact with the horse went in and the girth straps went over the top, it was to protect the...

Downgrading from 3.5t to equi trek day treka

With my ifor I used to be able to pull it round or turn it after I had unhitched if I needed. Whereas the equitrek is too heavy for me to move manually. But hitched up I’ve never had a problem. As for towing in the wind I’ve never found it worse than any other trailer.

Downgrading from 3.5t to equi trek day treka

I have a slightly older day treka (10 years old) and absolutely love it. I used to have a ifor William before but struggled with no storage etc. It is so much easier with the show treka as majority of things that you just need for show days I leave I’m there and having somewhere to get changed...

    Homemade solarium

So after seeing this on Facebook market place it got me wondering has anyone made a solarium themselves? I have a very handy other half so showed it him and he’s suggested making one if we put some metal sheeting behind the bulbs to reflect the heat, with the bulbs, fixtures and fitted etc it...

How old is too old for backing? (horse not rider)

Thank you all, she has genuinely been a pet and never had anyone try which is a big bonus. A very Sad story of gentleman wanting to pursue a life dream of owning a traditional cob so brought her as a foal but then became too ill to do anything with her. I was just a bit wary as I have never...
