I know of a horse that leans on a gate or stable door and leans on her throat pressing down quite hard in order to make herself choke. she isn't breathing in any air when she does this and does it randomly she may only do it once a week. What is she doing and why? anyone know?

Does anyone have any ideas for stopping a horse over jumping. we are jumping 2ft3" - 2ft9" and she jumps them a foot higher or more! Then when I try to go higher she just refuses any ideas? Thanks in advance
Hi I just found this and cross checked using youtube and it seems to be correct you will only need the first page as the other pages have different tests. It isn't as detailed as the one you would buy from BD or dressage diagrams but it is the test :)...
My pony used to do this a bit when I started schooling her and my trainer said to push her forwards more to stop her from doing it and not to try and slow her down. She said it was because she didn't want to go forwards and to her was the easy option! this stopped after a few weeks to a month...
Thanks for the advice I did a clear round last year and she went clear first time. We are playing around with bits at the moment she's currently ridden in a hanging cheek snaffle bit and the saddle has recently been checked. She's very strong minded! Will definately get her out more in the summer.
