Both of mine are naked. One is a TB, the other an IDxWB. They are both fine. Although I will put a rug on my TB if the rain is heavy and persistent. My yard owners horses are rugged up in light weight combos every night and brought in if it is raining!
Racesafe 2000 are light weight, flexible and offer good protection, but they are one of the more expensive body protectors. They do come in a variety of sizes though ie, short back, long back etc.
You could try the aerborn humane girth. I used one on a sensitive mare that I had and she was happy to be girthed up with this. It comes in dressage style too.
My old man is on global herbs bute-x and global herbs movefree liquid. He has been on both for about a month now and I have really noticed a difference. When the liquid is gone I will take him off the bute-x and put him on movefree plus powder. This is on recommendation from global herbs rep.
Have tried naf magic, didnt work at all. Once tried be-kalm paste for a sponsored ride ahh never again. Had the complete opposite effect, it was like giving a child a bag of sweets full of E numbers!! The best one I have found is super solvitax calming formula. Worked for my TB and also everyone...
My gelding is dark bay and has brown tack, cant imagine him in black. My grey is in black tack, she has worn a brown saddle it looked ok but black suits her more.
When she has locked up you should try pushing her back to release it. Lots of hill work and long slow canters are good for locking stifle. The fitter she is and stronger her muscles are , the condition can almost disappear.
Agree with marchtime about alfa a and baileys no4. Have used spillers conditioning cubes with great results and no fizziness for my fizzy TB. Alfa a oil is really good for all round condition too
Sustain from allen and page is very good for keeping the engine going without blowing the brains as it is low in starch and molasses. Worked really well for my OH horse with the same problem.
Perhaps your friend who walks out with you could start off with you then hang back a bit to let you go on alone. She will be there, not too far away if you need her, and as your confidence builds you could go further on ahead and meet you friend on your way back. Good luck and enjoy xx
