i know someone that paid £50k for a 14 yr old grade A (had jumped 1.50s in his time) but now back at 1.15/1.20 - within a year he was written off with arthritis in hocks, did a leg etc so be really careful to check vet certs etc.
you can only substitute a horse if the owner is the same, so you wont be able to ride some one elses horse for them unless you are registered as an owner.
i would recommend butler sherborne: http://www.butlersherborn.co.uk/ - they specialise in the cotswold region but often do things in warwickshire. may be worth a ring.
to be honest unless its done enough to slightly prove itself then not much more than anything else. i say this as we home bred 2 welton apollo fillies, both out of a top intermediate event mare (won 3, placed top 10 in 4 **s) and neither were particularly great offspring. one went JRN and Novice...
try this place: http://www.redhousebarn.org/
they have stables which may be possible to borrow at an extra price. a friend of my mums owns it and its lovely. hope it helps atleast.
although i think mary is great i am routing for bill levett and Hip and there are now only 3 ppl who can beat him so fingers crossed they have problems xc too! bill was taught me loads and lives literally 5 minutes from my house so i am supported the local side! its nerve racking times...
I know all about the BYEH 4 y/o+ classes but was wondering if anyone knows where I can get info on the in hand classes? Ive got a lovely 2 y/o event prospect and she's looking so lovely it'd do her some good to get out and about! If anyone could let me know thatd be great.
thank youuu
ive never done eridge but purston is difficult. the pn seems to ride ok and ive only ever done the novice but it is known as being a 'big' event. although i wouldnt say the novice is too bad but some think it is... i think its all opinion and your horse. but all the courses at purston are...
cost is on the BE website somewhere. under 'company membership' or something like that. i also find that at lower levels unless you are planning on moving up nov+ it is very difficult to keep sponsors. i was offered sponsorship from devoucoux at novice a couple of years ago on one of my event...
you dont if youre over the time in the SJ. you have to finish the showjumping with zero including no time and then you are allowed time faults xc. i guess its stops alot of people belting their horses round to get points.
eventing ireland you only get points if you finish on your dressage...
my 14.2 event pony has a muzzle on 5 hours a day - its just a plastic over sized flower pot type thing with big holes in and a strap which goes over her head! she doesnt mind it i dont think but otherwise she would constantly look balloon-esque!
im doing the novice on sunday - hope its not too hard. anyone done the novice before? ive heard its nice but there is a pallisade with open ditch? fell in one at PC champs and has now become major rider frightener... pony seems to have no worries though luckily! have major fingers crossed that i...
