    Anyone experience of chest impalement?

I used to ride a sec D mare who had a horific chest impalement when she was 2yrs old.Not sure how long it took to heal, and although she had a slightly odd trot, she happily competed pc tetrathlon,HT,ODE,DR and would jump the top of the wings. She was an absolute star and was never lame and always...

Dream, bred by Acorn quarter horses, is very bold, esp jumping, hardly touches a pole.Started xcing him last autumn and he placed 1st or close to in almost every hunter trial !He does however explode occasionally in the warm up and gallop round making whale noises :)...

    Please... Any help with napping?!

Several techniques work quite well, depending on how brave you can be, as napping can be quite scary. If he plants and reverses when asked to go forward, smack him. 1)If his response is to rear and spin,it is your objecive to keep him in the direction YOU want to go.If he spins left pop your...

Buy it even if it has sarcoids?

The horse was for sale at 2k with tack and we offered 1500 with tack (on proviso that we are still happy when we collect him and dont change our mind if we are unhappy with sarcoids) and she said that is the lowest she would accept. He comes with his liverpool cream. My main worry is that my boss...

Buy it even if it has sarcoids?

Hold on,think I worded that v badly. The flatter ones in my experience have been easy to treat.Had 2 with them, both dropped off in a month.

Buy it even if it has sarcoids?

Folllowing from the earlier post, the other horses I have been to see have not been big enough/wouldnt be suitable . I had forgotten to mention that the dun I wanted to make an offer for had a small sarcoid, about the size of a 10p, on its belly that was being treated with liverpool cream and...

Do eventers like coloureds or does the bay gelding reign supreme?

Im partial to the odd bay,my retired boy is bay.At the end of the day as long as it moves well,is sound and can do the job, it doesnt really matter. But I think horses have the edge if they have something about them ie well marked coloured, a big dun :p, a chestnut with stockings or...

Buying a horse to event.....Head or Heart?

I cant and wont even consider competing until its 4yr old anyway, and when it is I certainly wont be BE-ing it.I think its v good experience for a 4yr old to be out at v low key events for experience, and with previous horses,we always found taking them to a grassroots dressage test or popping...

Buying a horse to event.....Head or Heart?

He has the attitude and a fantastic temprement,is just 3 and hacks out like a dream and popped small fences.I would like to go as far as possible, obv hard with a budget but I believe there are horses that cost v little with that ability, just hard to come across and take work to reach their full...
