Check Ligament Sprain Not Getting Better

How long did it take for your mare to come right?

    Advice on Check Ligament Strain?

My horse has had swelling around his check ligament area since the beginning of August (happened in the field, grr!) After 5 weeks the swelling had gone and I decided to begin walking, after moving yard which involved him trotting about his field and one 10 minute session on the horse walker the...

Check Ligament Sprain Not Getting Better

Should probably mention he aquired the injury in the field with other horses (as well as numerous other minor injuries and scars!!) and is now on his own in a little paddock all horses around him are calm. Think i need to wrap him in bubble wrap!

    Hind End Exercises

Ah thanks! I completely forgot about the spiral exercise, will give that a go. I will eventually begin switching from collected to medium etc once i've established a calm collected canter, I think if I introduced him to medium it would be too much fun to get any sense from him and he's just...

    Hind End Exercises

I wasnt looking for a magic exercise as such but some people have good ideas; for example I found the transitions trot 5 walk 1 canter 5 trot 1 etc. on another forum who apparently was taught that by a dressage trainer and a shoulder in exercise which I wouldnt have thought of by myself. Its...

    Hind End Exercises

Thanks for your reply, my yard owner puts his behaviour down to an issuecwith respect for me and my aids as he is perfect in draw reins. She has sat on him several times and he will leg yield, turb in the forehand etc. quite easily with her after an initial argument. However with the me the...

    Random Musing

Yep! My horse once squealed and got himself wound up at the sight of a lunge line after a few months off. He loves his work and if given any length of time off the first ride is always the best!

Panacur Guard....when did they change it?

Yes indeed FEC can ease any worries about worming but I was even naive to that before studying nutrition at uni. The view of the yard was "if your horse needs worming 5 day panacur it"

    Nose bleeds help!!

Nosebleeds can occur when blood pressure in the lungs is too high and a vessel bursts, more commonly noticed in racehorses. Probably isn't a big problem unless persistent and affecting performance but if you are worried have a chat with your vet

Daft things told when viewing a horse..................

While viewing a rising 6yo bred to show jump with horrendous cow hocks "we've let her grow in to herself and started her slowly, the hocks will completely correct with some work" :|

    Random Musing

My opinion is that in the wild horses live in herds, they are social animals, this helps build their social skills and can shape their behaviour. Therefore the horse that longs for company is living against their natural behaviour. The horse that "doesnt miss turnout" well is hes been in all...

Panacur Guard....when did they change it?

I know this isn't exactly a reply to OP but it may be of interest to you.. This year my nutrition lecturer conducted some research for a worming company and tested panacur 5 day guard his results suggested that there was a large resistance to the drug in panacur Fenbendizole he found egg count...

    Ill health affecting riding ability

Lyn - No of course I dont say it to her and I do understand your points which are my reasoning for keeping my opinions to myself. I am aware she is greiving however 3 years after her worst turn she seems to be just living in limbo, I agree with above post about fighting etc. and you can tell the...

    Ill health affecting riding ability

Lyn - Aah i see, yes rather big. However if you can manage even a small ride on a more difficult horse perhaps an easier mount would allow you to go for longer? I may be talking rubbish here but I know I exert more energy trying to control my nutter than I do on my bosses school mistress... My...
