Hi all,
Not sure if this is ok to post here - mods please feel free to move or remove if this is a forum violation....had a look around before posting but didn't see anything re: notifying fourm members or upcoming events...:o
I am organising a free evening meeting for horse owners, stud...
I agree with this and also would say the small joint hock arthritis has shown a reasonable level of being hereditary, so there definitely is risk there too. Sorry :(
I have worked at a smaller clinic that only stocked flu and tet vaccs so all horses were given both every year ;)
It's not detrimental to have too much tet vacc!!:D
Hi
It depends what vaccine brand your vets are using.
The primary course consists of two vaccines at 4-6week interval, then the first booster is one year later.
Most manufacturers recommend revaccinating at two year intervals (hence alternating flu/flu and tet etc); although the...
Yes you have it right, that's why splitting the dose into two even amounts is suggested to keep the pain relief above the pain threshold for as long as possible.
ONe note - I agree with your vets, the 5day sounds like a good idea now, but you won't need the Equest Pramox as well as others have suggested. Use the 5d panacur OR equest in place of one another otherwise you are worming for the same thing twice and encouraging resistance.
The pramox part...
Spoke to my boss you received the latest update re vaccination last week at aa meeting. Apparently the StrepE intervet vaccinae is due for release this month again - having solved the stability issues, for which it was withdrawn from the market. The rest of the concerns appear to be unfounded...
Ah - I stand corrected and as we have had no info press regarding this so far :o I shall take it up with the other vets at our clinic too!!
Ah having done some reading I can only find that a Swedish company have had success with a pure recombinant DNA vacc (not using actual bacteria so not...
:D On behalf of vets - Thank you
To the OP:
If you have lost faith in your local vet, you could politely ask for a referral to Leahurst on the basis that you can struggle with ONE journey to a clinic that should be able to give you answers rather than ship from pillar to post for various...
THere is no vaccine.
There was on but as it turned out there were many breakthroughs of strangles cases despite vaccination and also there were a lot of reactions as the vaccination was done in the mucous membrane on the inside of the upper lip (swollen lips; off feed; resentment to...
Thanks both - re the manuka, we already use a lot of the impregnated dressing for chronic healing wounds but never neat on mudfever as yet....maybe will give that a try ;)
NOt unless you have science and maths a-levels too....
;)
From rcvs.org.uk website:
University Entrance Requirements
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons can only give general advice on university entrance requirements as there may be some slight variations between the different...
Mudfever is always a provocative topic :D
The trouble is every case if different and I have horses at one yard that respond to one treatment and then others at a yard down the road who respond to a different treatment.
The problem is the disease is multifactorial - environment, individual...
Shame - I guess that's one of the trade offs ;)
Any drug reaction known should really be reported TBH. It doesn't take long to fill in a form - if these things aren't recorded then the companies have no knowledge of adverse reactions and can't improved their products - I'd maybe ask the...
If this is a vral infection, then the fact that the horses are on the same premises is enough to constitute possible spread. Don't forget viruses are usually spread in a aerosol manner and wind will disperse the virus surprisingly far without you knowing. Plus if you, your mum or any other...
