One of mine was a nightmare to inhand walk - even when sedated he'd suddenly snap out of it every now and then. I ended up sending him to a yard with a horse walker so he could do his walking on there without hurting anybody!
Over the last 25 years I have had: Welsh A x 2, Welsh B, Dales x Fell, Connemara x 2, New Forest, Welsh D, Dutch WB, TB x Connemara, TB x WB, and a Shetland!...apparently I now need to get a highland as it seems through my childhood I managed to get through most of the native breeds!!

I popped down to the nearest horse market and picked up a little shetland for £40!! Admitedly she was full of worms, skinny and covered in lice...but she's fab now! :) she's the most wonderful companion pony!

I weigh out my hay/haylage into empty feed bags then carry them from barn to stables in that - if I know I'm going to be in a rush I make up all my weeks 'hay bags' at the weekend.
One of my liveries had this done with an older horse. Everything hard/sharp corners where wrapped up. Vet also advised handleing and talking to horse as much as poss from blind side to help desensitise them to noise and touch that they don't see coming. Take care when leading through doors and...
If it was me I'd get a vet sooner rather than later - eye problems are one of the few things I'll have a vet straight out for... the three most common causes of 'gunky eyes' are conjunctivitis, foreign body (causing ulcers/scrathes) ,and uveitis. The first two aren't particularly serious -...
