    Travelling Horses In a Lorry

I always travel my 11.2 facing the other way. My lorry doesn't have tack lockers so she ducks under the partitions at the front - when she is facing the other way she is fine.

    Fly rug shopping - help!

Not seen on of them for years! I have the Ultra Combo but the one you are looking for is very like the Rambo Protector

    Problems with water

Do you have a horse confident with water you can school with? We went yesterday with a horse who had fallen in water and wouldn't go near since. It took a while and lots of patience but after eventually following our mare in he ended up walking through on his own without hesitation

    Are your fields drying? :)

I could depress people by posting pictures of my green, mud free fields (sandy soil) but I won't - the track down to the fields does get slippery and I definitely noticed this morning how much drier it was, but as others have said, looking at the forecast for Saturday we will be back to square one.

    Neem oil fly spray?

I use Pure Neem oil it with citronella and Tee tree oil to make a spray (100ml Neem, 10 ml Citronella and 2 ml tee tree with 100ml shampoo base, made up to 1 litre with 1 Tbs cider vinegar, 1 tbs meths and the balance of water. I find this brilliant with midges but we don't have a lot of horse...

    Crown Farm ODE

The BE courses are lovely and inviting so I imagine the Unaf will be the same. DR and SJ on grass for the BE event so I imagine the same for the unaf as well.

Patchetts Equestrian to close 3rd August

Just seen this - I imagine the value of the property now far exceeds the effort required to run as an equestrian venue. Shame as it was local enough to us for dressage - hated SJ there and the parking left a lot to be desired but still a great loss - hate to think where all the liveries will go...

    Black tack and dressage.....

We have Brown Jump saddle and bridle but the dressage kit is black - it is easier to match stuff up in black as someone else said, black in black so we have been able to change nosebands and reins without it noticing. Our brown jumping kit however is a range of browns - bridle, reins and...

Riding the day before a comp?

Depends what we are doing - if eventing she will get a quick hack and then we get on with getting everything ready. If she is SJ normally need to take the edge off for the next day or she will be too full of it without doing Dressage first - ideally we will give her a pop but that depends on...

    Connemara & Wintec Saddle

I have a Kent and Masters Dressage on my Connie, he has an Ideal Event saddle too. I found Bates (or Wintec) had a too curved tree for Connies as all one ones we have had have been very flat backed.

Price of horse boxes and trailers?

There has been a new conversion for sale locally - they did two and have sold one so far - personally I wouldn't put my shopping in it but clearly someone bought one - that was up for £8k - it had a pretty paintjob, that was where the quality ended..... Friend sold an older Master conversion a...

Loaning a horse who pays for what?

I have a horse out on loan and I chose to keep the insurance going - they pay me a token amount towards it. Other than that they are responsible for everything, vets, routine stuff etc. I sent the horse kitted out with tack and rugs. I expect to get the horse back similarly kitted out with...

Stabled horses and the Animal Welfare Act...your thoughts??

My Welsh A has lived out all winter with access to a large shelter. She chooses to spend most of the day and all of the night in there when it is wet , cold or windy, she ventures out only on nice days! She is in a nice big sheltered field with company, she just likes her home comforts!

    tack hoarding opinions needed

I recently sold a load of rugs, they were a mainly Rambo or Rhino rugs, all in good condition and clean. They had sat in my barn in rodent proof bins for 8 years since I lost my little horse, they won't go near either of the other horses. I was amazed how much they sold for on eBay! I was...
