*following* I have had the same problem while out on the roads, although not as severe as you describe. My boy tends to have a little slip then corrects himself quickly. However, it has really put me off going up/ down hills as it really shakes me when it happens!
I think if you don't push yourself too much by thinking I 'should' be doing this or that, or comparing yourself to others it helps massively. That being said, it does help to push yourself a little so that you do progress, just take it at a pace that suits yourself and your horse. Just because...
