    Sending a horse for backing...

If you feel confident enough to do it (with the correct help) then why not carry on the good work yourself? I had my mare from 14 months old, lightly backed her late last year and re-backed her this spring. She was 4 this June and she has been fairly good. we did get to a stage where we haad a...

what horsey product do you ever regret buying?

I bought a new fly mask for my Mare a few weeks ago, was a fair amount (I think it was £25.99). It is rubbish, rubed heer jaw line raw in 12 hours :-( Stick with what I trust from now on, lesson learnt! Lis

    New Saddle - opinions please

I have recently bought a Kieffer for my 4yo... it has a polymer tree so any good saddler can remove it and adjust it as your horse develops and changes shape. Thats one thing that attracted me with Ruby still being young and developing! oh and I got my second hand one for under £300! Lisa

    Young horses going through phases

I'm loving this thread! Ruby, my 16.1 Sportshorse is 4 next week. I lightly broke her last year, then have re-backed her and have been mainly hacking this year (alone), going in the school once a fortnight. Today we went on our hack and omg she was such a madam. I think I ended up referring...

    Trailer maintenance - Glos

Hi all, Can anyone recommend a company in Glos/Worcs that will be able to look at and possibly replace the floor in my trailer (Rice)? I'm in Tewkesbury and would like to keep as local as possible, but also need to be sensible with costs and quality etc so am after recommendations. Any...

    Pony rubbing herself raw :-(

Thanks all, my instinct is saying mites or lice... No its not like cushings, she's not dippy backed or curly coated - yet?! She's never suffered with sweet itch, I suppose there's always a first time... She only has the lightweight rug on at night. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions...

    Pony rubbing herself raw :-(

Hi Fii, Sorry, forgot to mention she's only got the lightweight rug on at night now. She has started moulting but this seems a lot worse than that. I'll have a good look through her mane tomorrow to see if there are any lice. Could there be dust mites in the straw bed? I know I'm clutching...

    Pony rubbing herself raw :-(

Good evening all, I've not posted much on here before, so hi! One of our ponies is an older girl, she's a little Welsh A. She's been stabled at night this winter (possibly for the first time in her life) on a Straw bed and has been rugged throughout as she has lost condition over the last few...

    feeding whole barley

I feed my girl whole barley, she lost a lot of weight last year, but so far she's keeping the weight on with the cooked whole barley. Cooking it's not too bad, I do it twice a week and do it in a 6.5l slow cooker which was on offer -i.e. less than £20 - from Argos!

    Surrey equestrian- anyone used them?

I can't comment on shipping as the experience I had was when I sent hubby in to get a rug. It was on his delivery route and was a desperate buy as Ruby had ripped her other rug to bits. They were really helpful and professional towards him and didn't try and rip him off (he couldn't phone me to...
