I have a 2004 Kia Sorrento to tow my 16.3hh in an IW 511 and it's a fab tow vehicle and in comparison to other vehicles which have the same tow capacity, pretty economical. That said, it isn't by any means 'cheap' to run - I don't think there is such a thing as a cheap to run tow vehicle...

I pay £104 per month for stable, my own paddock with water drinker, 60x40 arena, electric/water, 24/7 turn out from April to Nov, in at night during winter. I pay £6 per week unlimited hay. Bedding and feed I buy in myself.

I have my own individual paddock at livery so I turn out as and when I want because it doesn't affect anyone else. There is one other pony an adjacent paddock who usually gets turned out an hour or so after mine. Mine isn't bothered being alone these days. As for frozen ground..I do turn out in...

I would get a decent instructor to help out for a while. It can be quite difficult for them to learn and it sounds like he's getting a bit frustrated and tense.

I've just bought a Kia Sorento and absolutely love it. Though mine is the older version as I need to tow my giant 16.3hh mare and the newer ones don't quite have the towing capacity as the older ones.

Kevin Bacon hoof ointment is good (albeit expensive). For the first time in my mare's life I've had issues with crumbly feet this summer and she lost a few shoes within a few weeks. I added some biotin to her feed and used the hoof ointment and they are all sorted now.
