    Rear view Mirror

Years ago you used to be able to buy a little mirror which clipped onto your stick, very similar to the wrist mirror in an above post.

Insulating outdoor taps? Any good ideas?

This year, we invested in Trace Heat. It is a cable that you tie wrap around your pipes, and the little thermostat means it only comes on when the temperature drops. You do need a socket to plug it into but I have been so pleased with it as last year we had burst pipes.

Bringing horses home - top tips?

This year we invested in trace heating, you tie wrap it to your pipes and when the temperature drops the thermostat kicks in and the cable heats up. No more frozen pipes and even my outside tap kept running through -7 at night. Total gamechanger. I have a toilet in my feed room and all the pipes...

    Lameness in Dressage Tests

Not dressage but many years ago I was asked to leave an unaffiliated show jumping warm up. The rather vociferous lady assured me and all the other competitors that my horse was lame on all 4 legs. He was a pacing harness racer. I stayed and won the class.

    Skinny Clydesdale Facebook

And all the hysteria over him being terrified and showing the whites of his eye, anyone else think he just has a ‘human’ eye that side which naturally shows more sclera? Most photos are of his right side

At my wits end with mud fever

My white legged Arabs were prone to both mud fever and LV. Mud fever wise, many years ago we had very deep snow which stayed for 2 weeks. Horses were knee deep in snow and the mud fever cleared up. My theory was that it was too cold for the bacteria, not their optimum temperature anymore. After...

Silicon seat breeches and tights - should we be buying these?

    T bar stirrups

I bought a beautiful pair of Equiline mono leathers from Redpost and they were the same, wouldn’t go through Sprengers or my Flexons. Redpost were excellent after they tried a pair themselves and were hugely apologetic. However the stock photo given by Equiline to Redpost didn’t match the...

    D30 invictus saddle/half pads

They were a very good price so I bought 2 but had to send them back as they were shaped like a very high wither pad so it bunched under the pommel. The d30 panels were too far apart so part of the saddle panels were on the pad not the d30 and the fixing tabs had very stretchy elastic which was...

Debate for the rights and wrongs of racing

Hi Stangs yes she is with a smaller trainer and the love and respect he has for his horses is evident. A lot of his horse do well in ROR when they are finished racing. Birker I do worry every time she goes racing but we make sure she is fit to race and that the race will suit her for distance...

Debate for the rights and wrongs of racing

As a racehorse owner (50%) I think it is good that we can have a debate about the right and wrongs of racing and this thread has at least cleared up some misconceptions about racing, for instance, qualifications for GN entry. All the owners I know care deeply what happens to their horses both...

how much does your saddle weigh.........

I remember Len Brown talking about the 11/2 lbs per square inch rule when I bought an orthoflex saddle 30 years ago. He has since said that the man who told him this has admitted that he made it up!
