    electrolytes

Yes the D&H ones go in the feed and ime very palatable. Horses can't store electrolytes as such but you can give him a day or two before during and after your endurance events. On a regular basis use a mix of 2/3 table salt and 1/3 lo-salt. About a tblspoon a day. This is cheaper and less...

    electrolytes

Dodson & Horrell ones are really good - I would recommend you use these as most closely resemble what the horse actually loses when it sweats.

Wheat vs Linseed for weight gain without the fizz

Wheat would have to be fed cooked and flaked (micronised) - never whole or bruised. It is high starch and therefore fast release energy so would/could contribute to fizziness. You can also upset the hindgut if any undigested stuff excapes digestion in the foregut so really wouldn't go that...

Shivering hairy Shetland - weather must be bad

If he is soaked through to his skin, he will shiver. Mine does that too. he can cope with extremem cold but not soaked through and cold. if it is a breathable rug he will be fine to put on him. At least it keeps the wind chill out. Plenty of hay too as gives them their own little radiator :)

what bit for fleshy tongue tb?

Having had two fat tongued individuals, i found that both appreciated the hanging cheek, NS, the thinnest (think 14mm) that is available. Worth a try :)

    Stable disinfectant powders

Bio-super or equi-safe. Fantastic stuff. It is a fine powder so is easy to apply in a thin layer and is super absorbent and binds up the ammonia smell.

    More Jump in the canter

An exercise from you know who - he who must be obeyed. Canter Diamonds using the outside aids then switch to circles and back again. Also shoulder in on circle to canter. Shallow loops in trot to counter canter as you come back to the track. Looked like a damn good score to me missus ;)

    Equilibra 500 feed balancer

In my experience this balancer is great but not for a really good doer unless they are working hard. Try Spillers lite or Baileys lo-cal for a good doer or even pink powder.

    Do you own a headshaker...

I had a lovely lad (now sadly no longer with us) who was a classic seasonal/pollen headshaker. He would start the second the yellow flowers appeared on the gorse and would tail off around October time as the poloen disappeared. he used to do the head flick and nose rubbing things. he started...

    Stable cleaner?

Get some Biosuper. It is a dry powder but it is great at getting rid of ammonia and absorbs the liquid too. Just clean under mats and then put it under before you put mats back - voila!!

Need serious help on boosting immune system!!

Any B vit supplement - Naf EnerG or Propell Plus - advantage to the NAF one is it is just B vits, propell Plus is a broad spectrum so you have to watch for over dosing if you are using other supps or compound feed. Echinacea. Also antioxidants (vitamin E , or natural). Hope he gets better soon...

    Feeding advice

Unless you can see her ribs I wouldn't consider trying to put condtion on just now. grass will be through soon , prob is already in Sothern climes, and you will need a buffer. Horses are designed to lose some weight in the winter time. Don't panic about condition loss. Better thinner than the...

Has anyone ever trained with Ernest Dillon?

Yes and I still would if any of the EC s round me used him. He gave me quite possibly the best SJ lessons I have ever had so much so that despite only having had 2 or 3 lessons and not for maybe 6 years I can still hear him ringing in my head when jumping a course of show jumps. He takes a...
