Annoying thing for me is I have 2 acres, O/D school and 4 stables at home so...
My 17.1hh full ID does not need a calmer as he is quite laid back individual however in winter he gets a little stressed, especially in field, tends to fence walk if left out too long.
I found if I give him a spoonful of Magnesium Oxide (85% strength) in his morning feed he is as calm as a...
Nigel Martin just lives up the road from me (nearest neighbour) and Hugo Spear lived in the next house after Nigels (before he moved). Nigel, Hugo and Neil Morrissey were often in our local having a few pints...nice blokes.

When I started riding in the late 70's at the age of 6/7 most ponies/horses were ridden in egg butt snaffles and cavason nosebands only. If the pony was strong it got a Kimblewick bit.
When I had my JA pony in the late 80's it was drop nosebands and petal overreach boots that made a right...
I am interested in this thread too as I have a 6 year old full ID who has a tendancy to buck when cantering too fast. Its like he gets too unbalanced and then throws a buck in, he is a very uphill chap and works too much on the bit, and have to work at pushing him through making him use his...

I talk to my boy all the time, often have a long one way conversation! Think it makes them bond to us more than if we dealt with them in silence - what sort of relationship could you form with silence?!?
I think that is whats helped me teaching him to hack on his own - carry on talking to...
What a lovely story and I am so pleased for your friend.
I too spent a few years trying to trace my 14.2hh JA jumping pony Topstripe. She was a dark bay but had a white patch under her belly. I sold her when I was 16 to a lady who wanted a safe schoolmistress - she seemed such a nice lady...
