Best bedding for a wet horse

Yep, another vote for Megazorb. Now on a yard where I pay for the straw that I use, I am going to be buying a bag to save some of the straw. It is awesome stuff!

    Coligone - Anyone used it?

I use Coligone for my TB. He was diagnosed with Grade 4 ulcers and, due to some unfortunate prescribing, five weeks of gastroguard did no good at all. I manage his diet as closely as I can and give him Coligone in liquid form before each feed and before working him. I save old worming...

    Hoof Jack

I have one, as my boy is barefoot. Personally, I think that you would be ok if you taught your horse to accept and trust placing his foot in the cradle - and he was not the sort to get overly lit up again events. I bought mine of eBay. It's a cheaper copy, but does the job. Hope this helps

Not strictly CR... Fig anniversary thread!

Lovely thread and stunning photos. All credit to you for spotting his potential and having the patience and skill to make him the horse he is today. I would imagine he counts his blessings every day. Merry Christmas to you both. :)

Best place for jumping lessons? (Melton way)

Yes - Jayne is excellent. She has gone back to Jayne Walker though - (and I am just building a website for her!) It would be well worth having a chat with Jayne and going from there. She does lots of clinics with the local Riding Club and the Pony Club branches, so obviously well thought of as...

    could it be ulcers?

My boy was diagnosed with grade 4 ulcers this time last year and prescribed a course of anti-b's, Gastroguard and pepto bismol to line his his stomach. Something caused a reaction which gave him a cellulitis like condition. He was re-scoped after five weeks of Gastroguard and his ulcers were...

Update : he did it again

Agree totally. I am so sorry to read that he has bolted again. Personally though, I wouldn't go down the PM route, as even finding a reason for the behaviour is not going to change a thing, at that point. It sounds harsh, but you have to think of your safety and that of anyone who comes into...

Walker Rugs - Rambo Vs Mark Todd?

I have the Rambo rug, which is warmer and has more fill than the Mark Todd rug that another livery has. Both are waterproof and seem to wash well.

Hit air vest - educate me please!

Yep, same as above. It's saved me in a bad fall on the road. Definitely go for it. You won't regret it.

    New horse Problem

Good decision. It is so hard to find out what's going on with them sometimes, but getting the vet to thoroughly check over your new boy will be money well spent. If he is in some pain, finding and fixing it is the best way ever to build a bond with your horse. Best of luck sorting your boy out. :)

Anyone ordered from Derby House recently?

I broke my own golden rule and ordered from DH recently. The whole order did arrive, which was a couple of bags of treats, some arnica gel and a mane detangler spray. The only downside was the poor packaging meant that the whole lot was covered in arnica gel from the pot breaking in transit...

    Struggling so much with PTS

Just wanted to send you a hug. We had our old boy pts at lunchtime today, and although we are broken hearted to be without him, we know we did right by him. It's so hard, I know. You'll do whatever the right thing is. Of that I'm sure. Big hugs to you.

My kingdom for a GENUINELY water proof coat ......

Have stayed warm and dry with my Drizabone on! Other than that, Kerrits winter breeches are water and wind resistant!

    Who doesn't clip...?

Undecided here too. His coat is looking stunning and I know that we aren't going to be doing much hard work over the winter. There almost feels like peer pressure to clip! So I won't do anything right now and will clip him as required, if and when we need to...
