2026 Foals

slightly concerned about Pip. Ive had my niggles thats shes not in foal. daughter and i have convinced ourselves weve seen foal movement, But in all honesty what weve seen could be gut movement. Her udders are not progessing and the size they are could easily be due to the grass. Her back end is the roundest /firmest its been. Then this morning i turned her out and she started squirting and winking at the others. So vet is booked for this afternoon to check.
she should be 334 days 🤞

Oh that's a shame, we had one that scanned in foal before she came back from the stallion, time went on, everyone was convinced they could see movement (except me) but no foal arrived, she must have slipped it early on 😐

shes never been a good doer, but this winter looks very 'well'. From the side she looks like you could hop on and ride., but from the back her belly is wide. Ive been pondering if its a grass/hay belly. Ive googled late term mare and although its not common, apparently they can still be in foal. I was sure i saw a foal move last night. But she does have some serious gut gurgling. At least i dont have to wait long to find out either way.

Oh my goodness just catching up on this thread hoping for lovely foal spam, only to read 2 such terribly sad posts. I'm so sorry @Asha - it's such a long and exciting wait only it all to sip away. And to lose a little one so quickly must be devastating, @tda

Breeding has been incredibly rewarding for me but a sobering reminder that it can also be heart breaking.

Thanks AE . Ive been incredibly lucky to date. Ive never lost one before, so i guess i was almost due something going wrong. At least ours was lost before Pip would have known anything .
Here she is as of yesterday . First time under saddle for what must be 4 years and enjoying it
