I know a bully is not a bulldog but always believed the american bully to be a different breed to the XL rather than one being a subtype of the other, it look like as you correctly say that they are though.

Again? How many more? 😢

Quoting the article.

One family member told the BBC the dog, called Hunter, had never shown any form of aggression and it was out of character.

Another family member said the mother of the injured baby was "devastated".

They added the dog and the baby were like "two peas in a pod".

Without going into rights and wrongs, this is a general comment on the legal system as I see here and elsewhere that people seem to be complaining about defence arguments in court/sentencing.

The prosecution does their bit, the defence do theirs...they get paid to defend the defendant, the clue is in the name, using mitigation like mental health issues, low means, early guilty plea, first offence of this nature, etc etc etc, which can be heard daily in any court up and down the land on a daily basis, it's not unusual at all. Otherwise we would be operating with no court hearings, no defence or prosecution lawyers, just gulags and underground prisons, the kind of which we see on the news in Syria this week. The judge then measures all of what they see and hear in evidence against the legislation available to them, they cannot make arbitrary decisions. As per the article, Allison hasn't been sentenced yet for the dog attack, so who knows if he will get a jail term or not.

Yes, what's that all about, two peas in a pod. It's a dog and baby for goodness sake. People need to remember that.

The family expressed anger over prior assessments of Hunter, claiming the dog had been returned to them after behavioral tests. Ms. Coombs added:
“Why did the police give the dog back after tests? How many families have to go through these tragedies? XL Bullies cannot be trusted—they should all be banned.”

Why did she think this was a suitable family dog?
No one has to go through these tragedies. Choose a sensible breed, not one bred for fighting

I wonder why the Police carried out behavioural tests. Is it a requirement for Certificate of Exemption?

It will only end when idiots like him are given appropriate sentences. Who give a f**k if he has mental health issues. He's an irresponsible law breaking.........(use any word you feel appropriate) who doesn't give e a toss about anyone including his elderly grandparents. 🤬

I'm so sick of the irresponsible owners of XL Bullies and mass shooters being described as having mental health issues. Most of us with mental health issues don't do such things.

It was a lovely dog. So soppy.

'Kent Police seized the same XL Bully in Hawkinge in November 2023 following a report that its owner had been bitten on the finger, causing a minor injury.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: 'The owner was asked to voluntarily surrender the dog to officers for destruction, but declined to do so.'

I often wonder what goes through people's minds, especially when taking care of tiny humans.

'They used to get in the travel cot together'.....aka the dog was allowed to get in the travel cot with the baby. I don't know many 8 month olds who can get in and out of travel cots unaided!

'We used to think he was like Scooby Doo.'

I can't find the words to describe the sheer stupidity displayed in this situation. Sadly, the baby is suffering because it appears to be surrounded by idiots.

It has emerged that officers had also been called to the house last year following a report the XL Bully had bitten its owner, who refused to have it put down at the time.

Mr William’s partner Stephanie Coombs said: “The dog was lovely. The dog and the baby got on - they were like two peas in a pod.

The baby would grab the dog. The dog would go over and check the baby, sniff the baby, go off and do its own thing. This was so out of character for Hunter - it came out of nowhere. I just feel so sorry for the family.”

Can we not use ableist slurs please?
Never knew such thing a thing existed, apologies.

Googled it and Moron not there but perhaps having parents so effing stupid as to bring a dog into a family home that has a reputation for attacking, and even if they got it prior to XLs being a thing, having a dog derived from fighting dogs is not an ideal family companion.
