Anyone else got awful weather--keeping horses in.

Its awful here in the welsh borders. torrential rain. my horses will be having their first night in of the winter I think. They usually come in in the mornings for a few hours, but they are still in and I will be deciding soon whether to turn out or not. rain due to cease around 10 pm tonight here.
 
I'm west/mid wales and it's horrific. Big horses are in and the 2 yearlings are out, safer for them to be out because they will take the barn down :D
My office ceiling has lifted a few times today, i can mostly be found sitting under my desk.
Am not looking forward to driving home
 
Yes am in glos and the roads yesterday were like swimming pools, my feild was like a paddling pool so they stayed in all day and night :-(. Today the wind is howling and the heavy rains back so not good, horses got a few hours out but were at the gate after an hour
 
Im in Gloucestershire and the weather is awful! Both horses came in last night due to waterlogged fields and have been in all day today. I dont think they will be going back out this evening and will have to stay in until tomorrow. The forecast torrential rain hasn't arrived yet but roads are still flooded from yesterday :( Thank goodness my two dont mind being in!
 
I'm in the West Midlands, it's been really windy all day and the (very heavy!) rain set in about an hour ago. It's supposed to be quite bad all night now and the temperature has definitely dropped within the last couple of days and it's so dark, even earlier because it's so miserable.

No horses to worry about as such, the foal I've recently put a deposit down on is out on the Welsh Mountains, not pleasant!! My other pony is on loan in Wales, I'm pretty sure their having new stables put in at the moment so I have a feeling he'll be hating this out in the field right now!
 
My 2 are out and have no other option. Luckily we have sandy ground and it's well above road height so all the water runs down the road and not into the field. Both are well rugged and judging by the mud on their rugs and heads earlier have been enjoying a good roll!
 
I don't normally but the field now resemblesa swamp and the water is just sitting on top! Think the horses have had enough as look thrilled to be in!
 
Yes, it's vile, and was SO windy this morning (Cornwall). Mine are in every night (usually starts at the beginning of November but this year was a full month earlier as fields are so wet). This morning they went out at 7am as usual, but I dragged them back in at 3pm as it was horizontal rain - luckily I was working at home or they'd have been stuck out until the usual 7pm :0(
 
Wind is just getting stronger here!!! I think my porch is about to blow off!!

Boy is in at night anyway, managed a sneaky hack this aft but it was blowing a fair gale! Think rain is moving our way too, booo!!!!!
 
North Yorks, and it's horrendous. Two of us tried to shut the gate into the yard, the gate had other ideas, absolutely no holding it, and it smacked hubs in the knees :eek: Branches are coming down, the roads are like streams, it's just awful.

Even if it's nice for the next few days, I'll be keeping Shy in a lot of the time, as it's just like a mud sea in the paddocks.

I'm in Essex and mine stayed in yesterday due to the rain. Today it has been quite sunny so she is going to have 10 hours out today (will bring in at 6)
 
Its horrendous here down in the sunny South West. I am sitting at my desk, my office is in a Victorian building and we have the original sash windows as its in a conservation area and they are rattling and wobbling terribly, plus the closed up chimney behind my desk is making ominous noises .......

Both mine have been in since Tuesday night. Weather has been foul, and our turnout is waterlogged. Its clay soil and on a hill, so not nice at all. Yard is lovely though, its all concrete and sheltered on 2 sides, so just wet.
 
I am also on the welsh borders and have brought mine in much earlier then normal today due to torrential rain and strong winds! I was out in it for about 10 minutes and got soaked down to the skin (literally! :o ).
 
Well in staffs moorlands just outside leek- was windy all day went to horse who is still out at 2pm was dry but blowy and all were happy. It started to hammer down about an hour ago, its now awful but won't be braving the falling trees and Telegraph poles to go and fetch in- all rugged up so will cope and have a rolling hill in field so can shelter away from trees.
Awful weather hope everyone gets home ok.

Yes its vile. Black cobs end up very red and skewbald mares end up looking like bays. Dont get me started on the grey horses on our yard, I am glad I dont own one.

Its very, very unpleasant and I gather our top fields, next to the yard itself are totally flooded as well. This is one of the few times I wished we were still in an american barn on livery.

Today s horrendous howling winds had to stop for a fallen tree then was bombarded with branches.

Our fields are lakes. Horses have been in the stables since tues evening :(
the tarp from the haystack is blowing across the front of the stables - so at least they are getting some desensitization training.:rolleyes: Wind is up in the trees, will defo have branches down tonight.
 
Ours have a hardstanding turnout area around the yard, that they've been out on for nearly six weeks now, we are on boggy clay, so they only go out on the fields once or twice a week, and spend all day out on the chippings with haylage otherwise. They were fine on there today, there are stables with overhang on 3 sides, so they can nearly always get out of the wind and rain. The rain didn't really kick off until 4pm, so I had them out all day and rode them both. Am now in front of the fire with two dogs and two cats.

Love that feeling when everything is safely in, fed and cosy, and that includes me!
 
Worcestershire, howling a gale and hammering down. The felt on some of the boxes is lifting and the oaks are dropping a lot of small branches.

It's going to be a stressful night I think, everyone is tucked up and safe. Lets hope it gives over soon.

I agree.

Ours have been out, as usual all day, oldie had her rug on as we were forecast rain by lunchtime, which didn't happen. I brought them in just before 4, having had to walk across the field to fetch oldie, who was far too snug in her rug to want to come in before it was dark.

I had just gone back into the house when the heavens opened. I shall have to go out again about 7 to give them their tea and I'm not looking forward to it.
 
ben went out about 12 today... he was in being clipped this morning. he was back in by three, he stood pitifully behind the muck spreader thats parked by his fence trying to shelter, so we whacked some hay out for him and then bought him in at 3... I dont think he took more than a few steps to shelter behind the spreader, then a few to get to the hay... then a few back to shelter until he had to walk to the gate to come in... bless him:p
 
I'm in Glos too and the weather is VILE. All stabled horses still went out for the whole day though, and came in as usual at 6:30pm. I am a turnout nazi and turnout as usual for the whole day no matter what the weather is doing. The ones who live out are staying out in it, as they won't blow away.

I, however, may well blow away if I go back outside. I fancy an office job.
 
Well my horse is in Glos (though I am not :p), and she was actually happy as larry out in the field today. Has to be stabled at night (livery) and looked wild eyed when I left her in her breezy box for the night. When it's windy like this I'd actually prefer she was out, I'm always terrified the roof will blow off! :eek: :D
