More ticket for us then ;)

I used to live in Versailles and it does not envy anything to all the other horsey places I have been to. For me, it's going to be a once in a lifetime event, I love the castle. As a student, I used to get in for free in the gardens in the evening and look at the fountains and the perspectives.

I would love to be in Paris for the SJ and if it turns out there are any organised tours I will be booking. However, and this is as a French lover and buyer of many horses over there, my Normandy experience was just ghastly - I was left sitting on a pavement, in blazing sunshine, with no access to food, water or toilets for two hours as they could not organise stewards to admit even season ticket holders. I was even then an OAP and now, even older, I cannot take that risk.

I failed to get any equestrian tickets, even though I was on the site bang on my allotted time. I got (hugely expensive) athletics, archery (for my husband) and water polo (better than football in a remote city). There were gymnastics tickets at 260 Euros each 😶 so I passed. Hopefully we can get the equestrian ones in the next round........

According to this, all equestrian tickets have sold for the first initial purchase windows. Single tickets for all sports including the medal days will be in the next release in March.

I didn’t get the option yet either. It’s been a bit of a palaver, it seems. Can’t say I’m impressed.

I’m surprised they didn’t run it in Chantilly, although I used to love Versailles when I lived in Paris.

Who knew fencing would be so popular?

We have three tickets for the men's football, for the women's rugby sevens and for the men's field hockey.

This is because OH wants to "be at the Olympics", whatever the event. About three hundred euros for nine tickets, so an average of about €33 a ticket.

For those who can't get tickets for equestrian events at the Olympics, there will be the Paralympics. I've not seen any discussion of getting tickets for that.

Tickets will be available through the same system as the Olympics. The calendar of events is online here.

I was so chuffed to get a place in the ballot but logged on today for my assigned slot and no equestrian tickets at all.

Gutted, I was unsuccessful for London too.

My slot is on Thursday. The email helpfully tells me that I’m one of the last to be given a slot and most of the availability has already gone. I’m not looking equestrian tickets though, so I may still get something 🙏

Daughter got her slot today too but, as you, was not happy no equestrian left. Not sure this was a good way to do it.

I’ve just found out I’ve got a slot from Thursday but sounds like very little left!

How is it going to work with the single tickets? Will it be slots again?

The thing is, there are relatively very few tickets available compared to the number of people who want them. There’s no totally fair system, you have to have an element of luck.
I’ve played the Olympic ticket game for 4 different Olympics, and this is the luckiest I have got!

How is everyone on here going to sort accommodation? I know when I thought I was going to junior Worlds in Tokyo in 2020 I booked a pod thing 18 months in advance, but covid happened.

Rode work on the racehorses in the tracks around Chantilly-great fun!

I'm going to host a "Chez Moi Olympics" for some friends. French food and wine + binge watching on TV. I might ask everyone to dress up and do daft things in French or French themed. I've got quite a long time to plan it but i'm already starting to think about it. I got a slot and so did several friends but nothing available

I'm going to book the moment hotels start offering July 24 on their websites, and pay a bit more to ensure free refund up to x date type options.

There has been some discussion about making public transport free of charge for people with tickets for Olympic events.

If you have tickets, it's certainly worth looking at whereabouts your events are, what the nearest bus or train stations are, and work out suitable accommodation from that.

You can check transport at https://www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/en

That's what London did - every ticket came with a free Transport for London travel card

Didn’t get equestrian- weirdly I don’t mind too much, happy to blitz that on the tv.

Splashed out on athletics as I really enjoyed that at Sydney Olympic. Topped up with men’s hockey and football, just because!

Accommodation is going to be the bigger stress

This is pretty much what I could have written. I also got my offer through yesterday, but with nothing available, and none of the 5 of us that applied have actually obtained tickets. We will try for the singles if they come up, but otherwise it will be all round mine to watch it on the ridiculously large tv my husband bought for watching ice hockey. Finally found a good use for it.

My ticket slot opened at 11am. I logged in at 11.02, selected the only available sessions in my sport for my pack, and poof!!! All gone, no tickets for the Rowreach family :(

Sitting room it is, then.

Daughter is in Colombia with a cousin at the moment, but sent a message asking me to get showjumping tickets for the two of us...

I think she's going to be disappointed.

Brilliant idea! Assuming my purchasing slot tomorrow shows any sport I'm remotely interested in as sold out, then I'll copy you!

Have they opened (or closed?!) volunteering opportunities? That'd be another way in. Although they may want a slightly better working knowledge of French, I'm not sure I'll be much help to anyone just by asking where the train station is, telling them I have one brother and that I like horse riding...!

They will open up volunteering but it's incredibly competitive for equestrian and there's a minimum qualification for any interesting jobs (IE where you'd actually see a horse;) )

Great, thanks both. I had pretty fab viewing with a role in London as part of the screen team on XC (and I poo-picked the first trot up - not the most glamorous role but I certainly saw every horse 😂). Couldn't afford to go to Rio or Tokyo - London was eye-wateringly expensive. But I'd love to do it again, and travel to Versailles would be a bit cheaper than Tokyo! I've just registered for volunteering updates... 🤞
