Anyone manage to get Paris Olympics equestrian tickets? What a saga!

I think it just works on a first come first served basis, I.e. if you get a draw for any date other than the first one you are not likely to get tickets for anything popular. I suspect a lot of eventing tickets went in the first phase when people needed a 3rd event to pad out their order. Not really any more or less fair than any other way, but maybe it stops the system crashing.

Doesn’t explain how the eventing SJ tickets went so fast though- they weren’t available first time round

The way they are doing it doesn't seem very fair. Surely the thing to do is divide each sport's tickets by the number of slots, and release that portion at the start of each slot. But they seem to be making all tickets available at the start, so those with later slots don't stand a chance.

The draw is random though, so it is ‘fair’, it’s just down to luck

It wouldn't surprise me at all if some xc tickets appear in the re-sell later in the year. That said, people may well have selected them as their third/cheapest choice option because of the location alone and a chance to watch a sport they wouldn't usually go to.

Currently no equestrian tickets available unless you're a wheelchair user. All Equestrian disciplines were available yesterday though, and some eventing show jumping this morning.

This. It's fairer than Wimbledon's initial ballot process where you get what you're given! Though this year, any tickets immediately rejected by ballot 'winners' have been put on sale for those unsuccessful in the ballot.

I saw a post from a totally non horsey person on Facebook, saying they'd managed to buy tickets for 'horse jumping' and dressage. I expect a lot of people would have bought the tickets for a nice day out, rather than enthusiasts of the sport.

We've had no luck so far with anything equestrian but we've got rowing tickets. Still hoping to see something equestrian but at the moment just happy we're going 😊

No luck this time round for me, I have eventing Dr and XC tickets, hoping to pick up some SJ in later sales.
I think it's great that non-horsey people have tickets- it's why it's so important it stays in the Olympics as it can bring new people into our sport. I was lucky enough to go to the eventing in HK for the Beijing Olympics and most of the stdium/ XC course was filled with locals having the most wonderful time!

Just logged on for my slot and not a single equestrian session available :(

Luckily I've already got XC tickets and Tennis so will keep and eye out on the re-sale site for anything else.

I had an early buying slot (3rd day) in the first draw, and another slot today for the individual ticket draw...I was not able to get any equestrian tickets at all in either time slot. So disappointed. I signed up for the draws as soon as they were available last year specifically to get show jumping tickets. AND I was lucky enough to have two opportunities. I can't believe they are sold out. While I'm sure the Olympics will be a great experience, I feel bitter having not secured tickets to my favorite sport. Hopefully I can buy at least 2 show jumping tickets in the resale phase...

I already have tickets from the first phase of sales, including pure dressage on day 2. Hubby got a slot on Saturday and there were no equestrian tickets left on the dates we're there (I didn't search past 5th August). We did however plump for some canoe slalom tickets because it's a sport we'll never watch and think it could be exciting fun for the kids. I am sure there will be a canoe forum somewhere in the world with people cross that I'm going and they couldn't get tickets because we won't know what we're looking at but for me a huge part of our once in a lifetime holiday will be experiencing things we would never otherwise be able to see.
I am fully expecting to be sat at the dressage near someone who doesn't know their passage from their halfpass but I hope they have a brilliant day too, The Olympics is the greatest show on earth and sport has the power to connect people and bring peace across the nations.

I’m so shocked at the price especially when you see plenty of empty seats on past games. I want to go so badly but there’s no way I can justify it. I can’t imagine what the atmosphere must be like!

Poo, only jumping and dressage left, at silly prices, plus the accommodation hunt trauma now, so given up.

Thanks for the notice, I should have looked earlier!

I'm hoping that they wil do what always happens at Olympics whereby they reduce the prices closer to the time as they have half empty venues...we are going for the dressage now so can hope they have spaces at other venues!
