Anyone manage to get Paris Olympics equestrian tickets? What a saga!

Got my slot and logged on yesterday afternoon. I could go down to Marseilles for a bit of skiff watching through binoculars as it would be out in the sea; pay €690 each for 2.5 hours of athletics and see a qualifying match of women's volleyball all for over €2000. Logged out again.

Not going to bother with singles in May. By the time I pay for travel, accommodation, meals etc. I could go somewhere exotic for 2 weeks.

Was lucky enough to see loads in London so that's my Olympic bucket list box ticked.

Academic though as first of all you have to manage to get any tickets. 5 of us failed totally in the package round and I am expecting the cross country tickets have probably already sold out so we will not go at all if the only option is the showjumping. Assuming of course that any of us ‘win’ the ballot.

And it seems to be the same for all sports - I can't get tickets either, and this whole process of "winning" the ballot but there being nothing left anyone once you get through is just a bollix.

I have bought tickets for the Olympics already and initially questioned my sanity for spending £1700 on tickets for 4 of us to see 6 events (1 day of pure dressage included in that).
But I then compared the price of going to Disney World. 7 day ticket for 4 of us would cost over £2000. Disney is there any day of any year - the Olympics happens once every 4 years and often the cost of travel would be prohibitive to me so I'm definitely able to justify the tickets. That said, if the only dressage FSM tickets I can get are 330EUR I will be giving that a miss!

I haven't had an email as yet, but I've given up. It was so complicated and so expensive that I've decided to have an Olympic party at home with horsey friends who want to watch the same things.

Worth noting for anyone wanting final/medals tickets:

Evening show jumping top priced tickets are €330; pure sure jumping is over €400!

I like the way they remind me to log on bang on the start of my time slot, as though xx,000 other people won't be doing exactly the same thing at the same time!

I've got a slot for tomorrow. Got some tickets from the first round, but no equestrian ones, so I'm hoping but not overly optimistic.....

I'm currently trying to find a hotel or similar, one 3* for 4 nights for 2 rooms wanted 28k 🤣☠!

I'm seriously wondering whether it'll be cheaper to stay in London and train over for the day. Eurostar booked in advance really isn't that offensive price wise. Though typically they dont run a proper service on a Sunday (xc day) - let's hope that changes!

If we get tickets, we are going to drive over and get an Airbnb within hour’s drive or so. That’s the plan, anyway!

Just research parking options beforehand. London you'd have been absolutely stuffed had you tried to drive in, I can imagine Versailles may be similar...

If you've not been to one before, Olympic Games sites tend to become quite 'shut down' because of the security and access. They're not like normal events in any way.

You could rent a three bedroom "cottage" at the Camping Maisons-Laffitte for a week for much less that. The Château de Versailles is about an hour and a quarter by train and bus from Maisons-Laffitte station.

It was really straightforward. I clicked on "Find sports" and ticked all the ones I was interested in. That way you can compare dates and what will work with what. Some sports start at 7.30pm so you can still do something else in the daytime. I was in and out in 15 minutes, despite some dithering!

Clicked in at 09:00 on the dot, only to find that the only eventing tickets still available are for the show jumping, starting at € 330 each - not going to bother just for that.

Oh that's such a shame. Keep an eye out for the ticket resale platform though. I'm sure some non-horsey people will have bought them as their 3rd sport when they bought packs, so you may get them then.

Got my slot this morning and went on at 10. Not one Eventing ticket available, even the most expensive. I find it difficult to understand, especially the x-country which surely can't be sold out. Does anyone have an explanation? Are they drip feeding them out very slowly?

The way they are doing it doesn't seem very fair. Surely the thing to do is divide each sport's tickets by the number of slots, and release that portion at the start of each slot. But they seem to be making all tickets available at the start, so those with later slots don't stand a chance.
