Back cooler for horses?

Hi all!

My horse is a black irish cob tank, and he always overheats so much across his back when we're out competing and he's tied to the horsebox without tack on. We normally put a cooler rug over his back to stop this, but when its really hot I always feel bad because its an extra layer and only blocks out the sun, doesn't directly make him cooler. Is there anything for horses similar to the design of a Back on Track back warmer but works more as an ice pack?

Why not try a cool cotton sheet like the Weatherbeeta Kool Coat ? Being light in colour should reflect the heat out.

I just found the IceHorse back blanket... it's a therapy pad but would it do the trick for my boy?

that seems like just what I'm after! I've been looking at the HyperKewl evaporative cooling blanket too which looks good... might have to get both and compare. Will certainly get use out of both!

Fill hot water bottles with cold water and create pouches from pillowcases and pop over the back.
