I was horrified when the horse I was having vetted was called Larry as I hate that name. When I rang up to enquire about him I can remember saying "Larry?? Oh"

But its actually spelt Lari as in Happy as Lari and for some reason I find that more appealing.

I knew a Rapunzel once. And a Kevin. Nooooo!

I have a barry and Judy ? you think it was planned they nearly rhyme cuz of the ys
funny you saying that :)

6 out of 7 of mine have all ended with the sound 'Y'. I actually joked this time around that I wanted a horse with the same sounding 'y' and got him too!

Riding school ponies called Spider, Mouse, Dick, Apple.
Spider was a lovely little skewbald.
Mouse was a little bay gelding.
Dick was a blue road, which reminded me very much of a Thelwell pony.
Apple was a big black gelding who was also known as El Diablo.

I know several foals born between March and May 2020 called Corona, Covid, Rona, etc ...
I rescued a hamster someone had named Corona around then too. Three from the same person actually and all in a terrible state. I took the name as an additional level of disrespect to the poor wee dote, I was quite annoyed. Renamed her Corazón which is the same root word but less rude!

I've had a Heidi and a Dusty in the past. I also had a pony called Chocolate Mint Lover.

I did make the mistake of letting my step-daughter name one of our home breds. We live near Bicester (pronounced Bister) so I now have a horse called Mister Bicester (Bisto to his friends).

I knew 2 little cobs called Derek and Kieth.

Mine have quite nice names, one is named after where he was born in Wales but it's a nice name and the other is a human name but a nice name.

The tb is called Pants because he was a crap racer lol.

There’s a pony for sale on Facebook called Lisa which I think is an odd name for a pony.
I rode a horse years ago that had a posh prefix name of Octo something, so that then got changed to Octopussy after the James Bond film and then they dropped the Octo…. ?‍♀️

Lollipop - luckily she didn’t answer to it, so I gave her a new stable name and she happily went by that for the rest of her life.

I really dislike the name Dandy for some reason. There was a nice horse at the riding school I went to many moons ago called Dandy who used to suck polos. I liked him but his name really offended me for some reason. I also dislike (sorry to anyone who has any of the following…) misty, blackie, goldie etc. no idea why but urgh. I would have to change a name if any of those came up.

I do quite like human names for horses, they amuse me, probably the more ridiculous the better. At the aforementioned RS we also had a miniature pony called MegaPo…. another pony was called Sweet Augusta and she was anything but sweet….

I worked in Australia for a bit and if you didn't get in quickly and name a new horse it would just get stuck with 'bay thing' or 'creamy pony'.

They took delivery of Steady - reared upright with me on the first ride but thankfully did live up to his name in the end
Skitzo - actually not that bad although I did hold my breath taking him out for his first ride
Bonkers - quiet as a lamb
Squeak - was a roarer so sort of suited that

One of mine should be called Shiloh, which means bringer of peace. We tried to call her that when we found out what her real name was but it never stuck. She's more bringer of chaos to be fair

as a child I had Shetlands called Gladys and Fred. I've only recently found out that was Charles and Camilla's pet names.

My sister bred a welsh part bred and called him gizmo.

As kids we (parents) shared a yard with a farm who bred welsh Ds he had a filly with no name that was a cow bag. On entering the stable most people would call her a #itch - us kids started chanting it running round the yard so her name was change to witch and she was registered as ###### flying witch. she's still going and still a bit of a #itch from what I've heard.

At a show I was at last weekend there was a Shetland called Alan - it really suited him too.

I'm sure I have many more. I mentioned a welsh A I used to own called Gisselle (the persons name not the animal) which we shortened and never realised it was rude until she went on loan in her senior years ooopppss. I've been shouting about seamen alot as she was a witch to catch. In fact she was often referred to as G#ss witch.:D

Alan the shetland reminded me, we have a little black pony called Al (short for Albert) at the sanctuary as well and I start humming "You Can Call me Al" almost every time I say hello to him. VERY irritating that my brain does that. Its doing it again now!!
