surely it would be easy enough for Badders to drop Saturday completely. Have the x country on Sunday and the SJ on Monday. not ideal I know but it's only once.

For all the people that stay over travelling there on the Saturday night after the drama in London might not be welcome and if everyone turned up on Sunday morning it would be chaos.

Most people drift in over Thursday and Friday afternoon to be all ready for Sat AM.

For watching on TV or visiting for the day it would work but I think a lot of people camp and all the trade stands people that want to watch / be in London might choose not to go

Sending everyone home for the day in the middle of a break didn't go down well when Centre Parc's suggested it !!!!

Not saying it’s a perfect idea. Not saying people should go home. If camping surely just give everyone an extra day at the camp site free of charge. Can’t imagine the trade stand people would give up badminton in favour of watching the coronation.

This is the most sensible compromise, I think.

News regarding Badminton Horse Trials & the Voltaire Design Grassroots Championships 2023

Since the news that The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort is to be held on Saturday 6th May (Cross-Country day) we have been working on planning how to deliver the Event around the celebrations.

The Event will now start a day later so our cross-country day does not clash with The Coronation. The timetable will be as follows:

Wednesday 3rd May - Voltaire Design Grassroots Championships - (Dressage)
Thursday 4th May - International Event - Horse Inspection
Voltaire Design Grassroots Championships –
Dressage, SJ, XC
Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Class
Tradestands Open
Friday 5th May - International Event – Dressage
Saturday 6th May - International Event – Dressage
Sunday 7th May - International Event – Cross Country
Monday 8th May - International Event – Show Jumping

To allow those attending to be part of this historic day, the Saturday Dressage will start earlier in order to accommodate The Coronation which will be shown on the big screens. Dressage will recommence once The Coronation service has taken place.

We very much hope with this amount of notice, it will be possible for you to amend your plans and attend as usual.

Thank you for your support and we very much look forward to seeing you all at Badminton 2023.

Not long to go!! Who's going?? I'm excited! We are going Saturday and Sunday, aiming to watch the coronation on the big screens between dressage tests!

Can't wait for badminton and coronation weekend. I have refused to make any plans so that I can watch all the xc and sj on tv. It would be great if their new app for badminton tv is easier than last year.

I’ll head in at some point (I live on the doorstep so very easy for me). Got a grandstand ticket for SJ so Monday is a definite. Otherwise I’ll play it by ear looking at the weather 😆
XC day I will steer well clear mind given I’m not grooming and watch the action on TV!

I know xc day was so so busy last year, it was unpleasant in the shops! Hence going on Saturday when it will hopefully be a bit quieter! 😬

Wondering whether I'll be fussed about watching the coronation on the screens on the Sat or not. I'll be walking the course and watching a bit of dressage on the Fri with OH, but he would rather have all his fingernails pulled out than return on the Sat to watch yet more dressage plus the coronation 🤣.

So he'll go off an do his own thing for the day on Sat while I return to Badminton to do the shops and spectate at whatever.
