Hehe you must have known what I was up to last night, thinking about all the different bits of travel and trips I had coming up 🤣

I think as long as I return to Co next week in a much better place than I left then keeping busy will be good, I don’t want to sit around sad about not riding Boggle. The next few weeks are already very hectic but lots of fun stuff and when I get home I need to buy my ski pass to get back on the slopes too!

I have visitors from the uk for most of early next year too on and off.

Thank you. X
Oh fun stuff is allowed!!! Just remember the rest breaks.

I can't even believe the few hours I experienced in the water today with the tiger sharks at tiger beach (not actually a beach, just a very shallow (8m) area in the middle of the ocean where they congrigate. Always females, usually pregnant. Discovered in the early 2000's by Jim Abernethy. It's a complete privelege to share the water with them. We MUST protect these animals, it was pretty heartbreaking to hear of the many, many ways we are unknowingly feeding into the shark fin/meat industry.

And as for their reputation as man eating monsters, it just couldn't be further from the truth. They are beautiful, intelligent, majestic creatures that deserve our respect but more importantly our protection.

Footage to follow!

Oh and my soul is fixed, turns out I just needed to look into the eyes of some apex predators to knock me back into shape! :D

I wish I was brave enough to do what you do. I am very uncomfortable with large volumes of water above me and unseen "things" below me. I have no idea why. Next year I am going on a trip to the Amazon and the Galapagos Islands via Ecuador courtesy of people of on this forum saying how brilliant it is! I am in my 60s so feel I need to do it while I can. I am determined to snorkel as I am a good swimmer and your video has given me some confidence. Seeing a real person diving and being comfortable around these wonderful creatures makes me want to do it. The videos I see on TV and online don't help as they are not "real". So thank you and keep the videos coming. I hope Bog is doing well but it is nice to see you relaxing and enjoying something.

I am so jealous you are going to the galapagos! The diving there is out of this world. I don't think I'll ever make it as it involves lots of quick descents due to current and my ears just won't take it.

I hope you have the best time :)

Snorkeling will be the furthest adventure for me! No diving! But we are excited to go. It's been 18 months in the planning! Last year was a Costa Rica tour which was wonderful. My Oh is now retired and I am almost retired so now is our time to enjoy. the kids are all sorted and adults, the mortgage is paid and sadly, in some ways, we have no parents to worry about so we can travel while we still can :). We no longer have horses and the dogs go and stay with the kids! I am now looking at the Comoros Islands for 2 years time so if anyone knows of anyone who has been I'd be interested.

Galapagos and Ecuador are just amazing I was lucky enough to go as a close friend married an Ecuadorian and had her wedding in Ecuador and I combined the wedding with site seeing. I am confident with swimming but still had an amazing time. I think it is important to have hobbies that don't involve horses as a back up and distraction so that you can have some headspace. My back up hobby is card games and when I am focused on a game or in a tournament it is hard to think about anything else stressful or sad. The sounds of the water on the video sounds so soothing and I love the beautiful look of the hammer sharks.

What wonderful photographs, what an amazing experience. So pleased you are managing to have some time for yourself, to unwind, and to re-connect with a world that doesn’t have to revolve around Boggle.

Your dedication to his health is beyond reproach BUT if you don’t look after yourself, who will look after Boggle?

I'm just going to say what everyone else is surely thinking... how has this thread dropped to page? I am getting Boggle withdrawal! Much as I hope you are having a wonderful, de-stressing holiday Michen (I love that sharks and de-stressing go in the same trip...!), hurry home so we can have a Bog reunion pic!

How do I even explain this. Boggle is good.

It’s in the news and maybe will reach UK soon enough but there was a fatal shark attack with one of my fellow divers on the boat.

What happened will remain ingrained in my memory forever and I just obviously do not wish to share the details other than it was no one’s fault. Despite the thousands of hours that have been spent under water with these apex predators we know it’s not without risk.

It seems utterly silly to have ever felt such distress from the Boggle situation because that was nothing, absolutely nothing, compared to the last 4 days.

I hope one day I can love the ocean again but for now I’m heading back to Colorado to spend, I imagine, many hours with my face buried in Boggles mane.

Holy f*ck Michen - I don't think any of us can even imagine what that must have been like to witness. The trauma will take time to process. I just can't believe (again) how much has happened to you in the past year, I'm sure all of us would tell you that professional help is probably a very good idea but you know yourself best.

I'm sure Boggle will be very happy to be a shoulder (mane) to cry on and will do his best to make you laugh. Huge hugs.

iI am so sad for you. To have gone away to try to heal yourself and then this. Life is cruel. As you say, predators do what predators do, but really, did they HAVE to choose your trip, now??

Yeah. Was saying in the other thread, boggle x 2 nearly dying, my family member had a baby who died within a few hours, my godfather had a stroke last week, me and my brother have some genetic heart risk thing. All in a few months.

But this is very, very different. It is quite literally a nightmare when I close my eyes.

Just boarded my second of three flights today to get home, won’t see Boggle today but will have friends waiting for me at Denver.

This is a tragic event, and if you were there I can't imagine your distress.

Please take time to speak to a counsellor about it. This along with everything else you've gone through this year is stacking up.

Allow yourself to take some help, even if you think you're ok.

I’m so sorry to read this.

As a diver I can’t imagine the horror that you, the crew, your other divers and obviously the person’s family have to face.

You have had a horrid year and to deal with more than anyone should have to.

Not sure what else to say except I am thinking of you and the diver’s family. X

So sorry M. You really didn’t need any more stress . Please look after yourself and maybe try to talk to a professional about it as something like that is a huge shock to your mind and you need a bit of help to deal with it… xxx

So so sorry M your trip has ended this way. There’s no words to describe how awful it must’ve been. I’m glad your friends are waiting for you. Sending massive hugs and so hope you can find some peace. What a horrendous time you’ve had of it.
