@brighteyes you may be a little late on this one ;) the chestnut flew through a vetting, is in my barn, moves very well and I'm currently really pleased with him in almost every way, the exception being he may be too small for me long term!
I don’t think he will!!

He’s got some growing to do. Everywhere. And so far I think he suits you down to the ground!!

And bog likes him so what’s not to like 🤣

He really is very, very cool.

I'm getting a ton of pleasure out of my little herd at the moment even though none are ridden! I'll have to re read this post in 8 weeks when it's properly snowing haha.

I don't comment on this thread often, but I've followed it from the start & read it every few weeks. Just caught up from mid September. He is absolutely gorgeous. You can tell he is bringing you so much joy and you sound peaceful as well (if that makes sense?!) Atlas is the perfect name & he is absolutely gorgeous. I hope he brings you many many years of happiness - I don't think he's going to be a project to sell on somehow!

Ah thank you! Peaceful is right, I am! I guess my Boggle anxiety is in a box for now, rightly or wrongly, until I have to make a decision. And it’s been almost a year since Bogs second heartache and the shark trauma and I finally feel like my old self again. Mostly.

It’s funny I remember reading on here when people would say they don’t compete anymore and I’d think wow how can you not want too. I have three horses that I’m juggling, with tons of travel and a high stress job. And I don’t even ride any of them, it’s SO much work, but it’s still worth it and brings me a lot of joy.

Its nice to know that the love of horses you feel when you are a kid and you just want to be around them is still there, and the riding and training is really just an added bonus not a necessity.

The looking after and being with them is what I miss much more than the actual riding . Agree you sound much happier and buying Atlas has been a good idea. He doesn’t look much smaller than Bog now so it looks like he will not be too small for you especially when he bulks up . You can put as many pics and videos in here as you like , it’s nice to be a tiny bit involved with your gang

Thank you! I have some pretty cool trips coming up also which always helps.

Here are the three time wasters yesterday. This isn’t the pasture they escaped from (this one has plenty of grass so Atlas doesn’t feel the need to stick his head through the fence). I wasn’t keen to have them on it much because of Bog weight but the grass has browned off now so not worried. The other one is electrified and ready to go with hay feeders when they’ve eaten this one down!

Atlas went on a field trip today round a new route, he was the coolest 3 year old ever! The temps have dipped and he was very snorty and prancy. I did this route because I wanted to let him see traffic on a busy road and it’s perfect as you can be as close or far from it as you want.

He was a little wired at times about life but soon settled and wanted to see EVERYTHING.

He’s very cute. He needs to grow into that big head of his.

Jealous of those fall colours 😍

Isn’t it beautiful. I was hacking Beau this morning and thinking how grateful I am for this life, I may have had some really awful luck come my way but the good luck far outweighs it. Crazy that a very English country life loving girl is far more at home in Colorado 🤣

If you could all keep your fingers crossed that the USA doesn’t vote trump in which will undoubtedly slow down my green card application, like it did for all of us on work visas, that would be great lol.

Not to mention how utterly depressing in every other way it would be, too. Clearly there are far bigger things at stake than my green card!

Yeah, I hope so too. I'll be voting from abroad, doing what I can.

Just waiting for my parents to tell me what to do on the CO issues, 'cause I don't care all that much, and they have to live with it.

I visited an old friend of Boggles at the weekend! Almost wanted to take her back with me just to see Boggles reaction.

He’s been a little less obnoxious the last few day and his eye seemed a bit dull, obviously this sent me into panic mode and I was convinced it was time, but he seemed back to his normal self yesterday so I think potentially the warm weather with an almost grown in hairy winter coat perhaps.

Regardless, my friend has swung by this morning to grab some blood just to check everything is ok, particularly given he’s now been on oral steroids for 7 months.

I am heading out to Florida for work and then the UK, and it’s my birthday on Saturday, so it would be really nice if Bog could keep any disasters at bay until I’m back in a week. 😊

My old horse Judge managed to escape last year just before Christmas. I was idly scrolling through the community facebook page and there were various pictures and videos of Judge 'jauntily having a little walk' as one poster put it. I nearly had about 10 babies. Dashed through Doncaster and caught up with him in the next village. I thought I'll take his rug off and walk him home give him chance to cool down after his little adventure, he pulled my arms out.

Judge was 34 at the time, god rest his soul, so you've got many years to come of exciting escapes.

I woke up one morning to about a hundred missed calls, texts, FB messages and notifications. You know that nothing good is happening when you wake up to that. I never sleep, but that day I was exhausted and fallen asleep early. My 2 were splashed all over social media. I too nearly had about 10 babies 😂

I think this is one of the nicest if not the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in- the Boca Raton! And, for the first time in nearly a year seeing the boats (yachts? lol) and feeling that humid warm sea air makes me REALLY want to go ocean diving. Not just cave diving. Which is awesome, genuinely thought that part of my life was done.

That would have seemed impossible 6 months ago.

I saw a post for Jack in one of the morgan groups and couldn't help but comment, I was so cross at how he is being misrepresented. The person posting (seemed to be the person who runs this site), blocked me pretty quick.

I am so tempted to message the owner and the seller but it's pointless, isn't it? I should just let it go. This poor horse could end up in the wrong hands and things could get really, really bad for him. Urgh.

And no, I don't believe he's been fixed after some chiro. Nor do I believe he's properly been restarted/sorted out in a matter of what- 6 weeks maybe? Of course, he could just happen to have been lame that day. On both hinds. Pre and post flexion. With some behavioral issues alongside.

But yeh, I'm sure he's a good jumper prospect and just green- weeks later.

Hopefully, for that price any potential buyer would also get him vetted. I think that's all you can hope for.

I had one vetted which had kissing spines on xray, was painful on palpation of the back and the vet commented (adversely) on the behaviour of the horse during the ridden part of the 5 stage. The pro rider did a good job of riding through it but I was a little relieved he failed as he was nothing like the horse I'd seen and ridden twice. The price was dropped below £10k so that he could be insured without xrays and as he was sound would have passed a 5 stage. The xray findings weren't disclosed in the advert and I doubt would have been on a viewing. In fact the agent initially refused to return my deposit as she disagreed with the vet and in her opinion the horse was fine. Others I tried weren't right and didn't get to the vetting stage and the owners / sellers may or may not have been aware but there's a lot of money involved.

Since you made the vet findings available to the seller, they're aware of the issues. Be thankful the vet did his job properly for you.

As far as fencing is concerned, all I can say is that I didn't want an arena fence like this, but needed one!

The horse is over 16hh, for scale. The fence was 6'6" but even at 6', he'd jump!

We used it as a winter turnout paddock. Even the 5 bar gate had 3 rows of tape so the height matched the fence...

You can just see the third tape top left of the screen.

It was the same in the field... 16716104_10208241546140328_2089892009757586199_o.jpg

My lovely husband putting an 8ft post in!

In the end, we just made a fence between 2 paddocks to 90cm, so he could satisfy his jump-lust. He was never panicked, he'd just pop out, spend some time hanging, then pop back in again. He didn't give 2 hoots about other horses. He was so pleased when I gave him a jumping spot.

Good luck with yours!

Scrolling past ‘oh cute pony, looks like Bog’

Then the realisation kicks in… 😂
This happened with me with little Hekkie (dog). I was on the sofa, browsing FB, and there he was, featuring on the local village FB group. He was loose in the road, I sprinted!

This is me. I now have 2 heavier horses, no competitive ambitions, in fact, I am so proud of them both for teaching my boyfriend to ride. he is learning his up-downs at trot and having his first wobbly canters, and they are being kind. They both have such wonderful characters, they don't have to 'do' anything to please me.

It's unreal isn't it. People sucks. I made sure both agent AND owner had the full vetting report.

Now it's not to say that he may have just been lame that day, maybe. Though really it seems unlikely given the corresponding behavior.

I think what's worse is that people often buy unseen here, you could really trust that he's a just broken green 5 year old not a horse that needs totally unpicking and restarting. And maybe it'll work out just fine for him, but really, the owner/seller slapping him back up to double what they accepted from me (because they knew he was a total mess) and painting a picture that he's good to go is just so wrong.

His cost is in Canadian USD so he's really 15k USD. Hopefully at that price people would still vet, and hopefully not use the sellers vet either. And hopefully, nothing untoward will happen to get him through said vetting..

I suppose there's a bit of me that's thinking maybe he really did just need some bodywork and now he's fine and I missed out on what could have been an awesome horse, and I'm bitter about it. But then I look at the facts and realise that's just being pretty stupid really :D

I was very sceptical getting this hay feeder built that Bog would allow the others near it, the fact he’s happy (within reason and still very much under his terms) to share it with the others I think speaks volumes to his happiness levels.

He did just get himself a vets bill for a blocked tear duct but I’ll give him that because the vet was coming to do vaccines for Atlas and teeth anyway.

Very content with my herd of time wasters, not sure I could care less if I even ride Atlas to be honest. He’s just lovely to have around and bought me a ton of joy.
