Haha he wishes! A good angle. Atlas is the most fun, game, awesome little thing I could have hoped to find. He’s certainly not a Boggle nor will anything ever be but I am delighted with him in every way. I love his prancy disposition and his curious, thoughtful nature.

I really hope he grows into something I can ride because I truly think he will be fabulous, but if he doesn’t I’ll find him the best home ever next year.

If I had waited a week to name him I’d have called him Tigger. And tbh that may still end up being his name

Same. Though in my head I keep calling Atlas 'Jack' anyway. Perhaps because of the previous Jack, perhaps because the first horse I bought was a chestnut called Jack.

I do like the name Atlas, but could never get it to stick with regards to calling HIM Atlas.

To five.. so then they started? Gawd, if he throws this kind of s*** under saddle I’m screwed. I have honestly never come across such a bouncy bendy springy thing in my 25 years of horses. I mean Boggle does some interesting stuff but even he is not in the league of this ginger thing.

No she's only 5 this year so, so far so good! To be honest she was a complete sloth to back, despite being very zoomy and daft in the field! I've got her a bit fitter this year now she's a bit older and she's definitely improved on how forward she is, but she still has yet to show any inclination to get 'bouncy' under saddle, I am very grateful and hoping it continues...

Edit to add this wonderful sequence, so ridiculous and clumsy, just what you want in a ridden horse .






She was fine, bounced up, gave a good buck then carried on .

Hermosa likes to rear when playing, but she's never been any bother under saddle. And it's not like she's had anything resembling professional training, either. I FB'd you a video. Easier than wrestling with adding a video to the forum.

I don’t have any footage but honestly, when Nutmeg has gone off on one, she is vertical, multiple times. Early days to say never but it’s not happened under saddle over the last 6 months.

On the other hand, I NEVER saw Lacey rear in the field.

When Arabi was entire he would always rear twice walking to the field and he used to clap his front feet together and stay up for ages.

Once he was gelded at 4 he never did it again walking to the field but he still does it in the field especially if there are horses around he doesn't like.

I had a 17h quite blood irish mare (in my sig) who threw the most astonishing shapes both in the field and on the lunge
She never once in 5 years bucked or reared under saddle

Thanks everyone I feel marginally better now hahaha. Maybe he needs to go in my western saddle, I’d need to lose a bit more weight to stay at 15% with that thing on him though.

I’m pretty smitten with him though guys, given I wanted a fun, cute pony to keep me entertained over winter I couldn’t have done better.

And no more jumping out of runs or breaking fences so that’s nice.

Archie was quite the contortionist in the field. Handstands were his favourite. He never bucked once under saddle in the 20 years I had him. He reared (a tiny one) once while napping and got such a telling off he never even considered it again. It was at a TREC event and I swear some of them were ready to call the RSPCA on me (all I did was send him forwards quite forcefully and growl at him) but I don't tolerate that at all!

Ha! Sounds like Boggle.. he used to do the most gigantic explosions. He did it with the jockey I had for him on the way to the SJ warm up at Aston Le walls, I've never seen someone with their arse so far out of the saddle. She managed to sit it and I'm (not remotely ashamed to say actually), he would have had a rather sore arse afterwards.

He never, ever exploded like that again even when I took him hunting and knew he really wanted to. It was a turning point in his rideability TBH.
