Yes he is! Was your morgan 3, when he was short backed though haha?I lost track a bit.... is he a Morgan? If so, my Morgan was very short backed when he was young but then he grew (I didn't really notice as I saw him all the time but the farrier kept telling me!) and now he has ended up quite long backed. Mine also puts himself into a pleasing frame when trotting (as long as he isn't tense and running about with his head up). Atlas does seem to have lots of character!!
Yikes! I've decided not to even worry about sitting on him until next spring, where I guess I'll need to go through the saddle faff thing. Feels pointless to do it now if he changes a fair bit in 6 months. My friend’s Morgan was 15hh and needed to be broken in a 15.5inch saddle after being turned away for the winter he was still 15hh but fitted a 17 inch. He’d only grown lengthwise, not upwards. Funny horses
I don’t remember exactly but he was short backed until quite late so yes probably at 3 I don’t think I sat on him until he was 4 so he had a (wow, size 1) saddle fitted then. He is about 15.2hh now.Yes he is! Was your morgan 3, when he was short backed though haha?
Thank you for the info!
I had this very unprepossessing unathletic looking yearlingI swear my retired 14hh mare jumped a 5 bar gate (probably from a standstill)
I’d brought her buddy in (others still out around her) and it became clear as we walked away that she wasn’t going to settle so I planned to March back, quickly put her buddy away then grab her in.
One minute she was one side of the gate, the next minute she was the other.
I inspected it and couldn’t find any way she could have gone through or round.
She had been retired 4 years at this point and even during her ridden career I doubt we’d jumped 90cm!
That Mini is not much bigger than the pig
Careful what you wish for, there will be a line forming.Anyone want to come pick up Atlas because he really has been an absolute pain in the arse for the last 7 days.
One of mine escaped and went for a jolly on the army cricket pitch where we were stationedI still remember the night 50 years ago when my three got out and went tap dancing on the bank managers lawn, they even used his lines of raspberry canes and fruit bushes as jump schooling. Even worse was one horse was named after the bank manager who had enabled him to be purchased and I had an appointment with him two days later.
Oh my goodness the great and the good there must have been furious! Many years ago, ( when it was not quite so "smart" as it is now) my parents lived near Wentworth golf course.....they received an irate phone call from the groundsman at the golf club asking them to remove their ponies from the eighteenth green!
Luckily no-one in the family played golf, so we weren't able to be thrown out!
