I may be imagining it, but he does throw some “Bog” shaped movements Loving life he is

Oh yeah he does!

I feel Bog everywhere at that barn, in the best way possible, it does mean I’m constantly swallowing a big lump in my throat or sometimes not succeeding (like now at 5.45am with a cup of coffee and a load of tears) but I’m so glad I’ve gone back there.

Merrily on my way to airport last night when my phone starts pinging. Atlas removed the top rail of his run (one side is wooden), jumped out and went for an adventure around the neighborhood. He had been deposited back into his stall by my kind neighbors but I went back to shut him in the stall rather than have run access until I can electrify the wooden bit. It’s a weird kind of horse that leaves his herd to go off on his own thing.

This morning, poor D, Atlas in protest at not having access to his run decides to take down his electric paddock immediately after being turned out, having not even given me an inkling of that being something he was considering all week (I think the clip had come off or something to not electrify it) and then give D a 30 min run around, refusing to catch until he was good and ready.

Little s***! I’ve been gone less than 24 hours!

Nice photo though

Beautiful photo. I've got an odd boy too. My 2yo is more than happy to leave the herd to go exploring where he shouldn't be. The thrill of the unknown seems to trump any feeling of reliance on company. It's not easy!

Yes it’s bizarre isn’t it! Like when Atlas broke Helo and Boggle out (which resulted in me having to string electric all around the wooden paddock except his run which was clearly a mistake). He went off on his own without the other two.

Really weird! He is quite the character.

Yeah, my Welsh mare is VERY happy to think of things to do on her own...no accomplice needed! It's often on my mind - wondering what she might be thinking of next...

Not odd in the slightest. That’s his adolescent brain perceiving reduced risk regarding leaving the herd and increased satisfaction from novel experiences. After all, he’s at an age where he’d naturally be leaving the safety of his herd if he were wild.

He knows you won't keep him if he's boring!

Little tinker (and poor D)! Looking at the positives, it sounds like he’ll be a brilliant trail riding horse if he loves exploring so much.

He’s great. I really like his attitude and character a lot and it’s nice having him back at my place as I just get more time with him. And he’s somehow sparkier.

I can’t wait for him to finish quarantine so I can get him out long reining and hacking!

20 degrees yesterday, -6 today and snow!

Well Laxi broke out and broke quarantine so now they are all in together. No other horses in Arizona barn got sick which is a miracle given what it was, such great work from the barn staff to keep it contained. I have left Colorado for a week, and will be gone this weekend for a wedding in Mexico so out of the country.

I hate to think what they are going to conjure up for the gals looking after them.

And Atlas is being beaten up by something.. small. It’s quite strange to see a small tiny bay thing replacing Boggle in the herd. At least he’s very different I guess! I just love watching Atlas move when he’s being fiery. He carries himself with such presence and collection it’s really impressive.

Didn’t want 2 horses anyway. 2.5 is way better. Guess he’s staying. Any tips on how to get him to stop biting me? And how to catch him? 🤣🤣🤣
