3rd time lucky..... but agree you may find yourself overstretched with job, Atlas, puppy etc. although a horse in a field for a year or so as long as castrated may not be too much hassle.Hahahaha… Boggle.. Atlas![]()
One of mine was gelded late, as a 4yo and to my knowledge had not covered. He hasn't been straight forward, he's OK out and about with mares but can be aggressive with other geldings at seemingly random times, including my other 2 who the majority of the time he gets on well with. Doesn't like a strange gelding close behind him. It might be just him but I don't think being cut late has helped and I suspect he was turned out on his own before I got him so not well socialised.
This looks a very nice horse but think hard about taking on a stallion who has been covering mares already.
So what do you all think? Asking for a friend…

BAMF Invitation To Dance
BAMF Invitation To Dance (Play The Odds x One Day Desert Dancer) 2023 Buckskin Morgan Colt 15.2hh Maturing to 15.3h PSSM1 Neg via parents - EeAa nCr Located in Billings, Montana Asking $10,000 This is not an easy sale. “Samba” is a colt I truly love and believe is absolutely stunning. From...morganwantads.com
But...he does make sense in that he's young/unstarted, you like the look of him, he'll likely make the height you need and if he vets well, he would be a nice young horse for you to have fun with, especially if you are worried about how much work Atlas might do. Makes perfect sense to me!! Also, he'd be a companion for Atlas, making any moves etc somewhat less stressful for both of them. See, it's actually a very sensible move.Hehe. He does make absolutely no sense. Atlas was also gelded at 3 but he didn’t cover any mares so there’s quite a difference there.
I think with Atlas I am just kind of waiting for him to break- is he really going to stand up to much or any work with his sidebone etc? Is he always going to remain neuro free? He’s doing great at the moment but really not much is being asked of him in the grand scheme of things. Would I want to even be popping him over any fences?
I love that little guy but I do wonder if I’m better to get him going and finding him someone to loan (I’ll never sell him) who just wants to potter around some trails where he’s less likely to break. Though he might well be too spicy for that kind of person, hard to tell yet. I guess that’s where maybe I’m still keeping eyes on certain other Morgan ads
I think my OH just knows there’s zero logic to anything horse related![]()
