Boggle- USA bound!

One of mine was gelded late, as a 4yo and to my knowledge had not covered. He hasn't been straight forward, he's OK out and about with mares but can be aggressive with other geldings at seemingly random times, including my other 2 who the majority of the time he gets on well with. Doesn't like a strange gelding close behind him. It might be just him but I don't think being cut late has helped and I suspect he was turned out on his own before I got him so not well socialised.

This looks a very nice horse but think hard about taking on a stallion who has been covering mares already.

Hahahaha… Boggle.. Atlas 🙈
3rd time lucky..... but agree you may find yourself overstretched with job, Atlas, puppy etc. although a horse in a field for a year or so as long as castrated may not be too much hassle.
Voice of reason: will need a lot of work at a time when you could just be enjoying Atlas and life in general.

I got mine at 10yr old, not loing gelded, ex breeding stallion. He was never an issue other thsn being wary of mares. Its very much dependent on the horse.

Do all Morgans have that mouth? I thought Atlas had the cutest thinking face, with his top lip folding over the bottom in a pout, but the buckskin has the same face! Either it's a Morgan thing or it's just meant to be 😂 Either way buy the pony

Hehe. He does make absolutely no sense. Atlas was also gelded at 3 but he didn’t cover any mares so there’s quite a difference there.

I think with Atlas I am just kind of waiting for him to break- is he really going to stand up to much or any work with his sidebone etc? Is he always going to remain neuro free? He’s doing great at the moment but really not much is being asked of him in the grand scheme of things. Would I want to even be popping him over any fences?

I love that little guy but I do wonder if I’m better to get him going and finding him someone to loan (I’ll never sell him) who just wants to potter around some trails where he’s less likely to break. Though he might well be too spicy for that kind of person, hard to tell yet. I guess that’s where maybe I’m still keeping eyes on certain other Morgan ads :)

I think my OH just knows there’s zero logic to anything horse related 🙈

So what do you all think? Asking for a friend… 🙈

I think your “friend” is mad to consider him, but does look rather nice so maybe your “friend” might go for him 🤣😂🤣

But...he does make sense in that he's young/unstarted, you like the look of him, he'll likely make the height you need and if he vets well, he would be a nice young horse for you to have fun with, especially if you are worried about how much work Atlas might do. Makes perfect sense to me!! Also, he'd be a companion for Atlas, making any moves etc somewhat less stressful for both of them. See, it's actually a very sensible move. 😎🤣

Haha well realistically my California barn is not a good set up for a horse to just sit for a year. I’d probably send him to the place in Arizona because I trust them and know they will carefully manage things like a just gelded horse being introduced to a herd or whatnot.

So I probably wouldn’t get much pleasure from him other than knowing he exists and is mine!!!

Still, I am awaiting some more videos :)

Yesssss you guys are right. WTF is wrong with me. Why does it make any sense to buy a horse and have it sit for a year in a field where I wouldn’t even enjoy him!

He just really grabbed my attention.
It does make sense if it's a tactical purchase and you have the setup for it - and I can see the benefit in having two horses, so long as they're both fairly straightforward. Eggs split across two baskets, etc. I would probably see how Atlas comes on in the next year or so and then see where you stand. And given the expense of American boarding I'd maybe look for something slightly closer to backing? Then at least you could keep it in CA and get it hacking around a bit (i.e. play with the new toy!)

I don't think you look too big on Atlas either, he's built like a little tank and seems to carry himself well (all that groundwork paying off). His ridden shape will only improve, he's just never going to be a BIG horse. But he looks strong and he's so nicely compact.
