God that was emotional! The vet is amazed. His left lung is pristine, his right lung is 90% perfect. Just one patch which we have to watch for an abscess but it’s so much improved in such a short space of time.

His blood work is perfect, liver enzymes completely normal too for the first time since April.

His neck she thinks she can see the tiniest bit of arthritis but it’ll need to be reviewed by a radiographer to be sure. But totally minor if it is something.

He is unbelievable, they couldn’t believe how good he looked already. I didn’t realise quite how invested they all were but there was tons of hugs all around and some watery eyes!

She thinks if we can avoid an abscess that I may, just may, have a totally normal horse.

That floof!!

Does he have some swelling around where the catheter was on his neck? I ask because Finn had a catheter in for a while when he was in the RVC. In finns case he got an infection which took a long time to clear with antibiotics but it also left some scar tissue/swelling. The one thing that helped it was to use laser therapy (with vet approval). It helped reduce the swelling but I started it a bit late so if Bog has similar, ask your vet if they can do laser therapy. My physio did mine and you can buy (slightly less powerful) ones yourself (photizo).

I’ve seen some of Bogs old photos before but it’s still unbelievable that is the same horse. He is such a beautiful strong horse now. (Even after being so poorly) What age was he when you bought him?

He looks great, it's so lovely to see him throwing himself around and feeling well.

I can't help but chuckle to myself when you say that he's lost so much muscle etc, he would be in the top 1% of horses muscle wise on about every yard I have ever been on, even now. You two will be back out and smashing life in no time at all, I'm sure of it.

Nope no swelling, just slightly scabby!

He was a rising 5 ball of cheek and at times fury! God he could be so difficult. He had a huge nap and explosion on him, and his traveling issues were horrendous.

Well he wasn’t difficult really he was an incredibly intelligent sparky horse who understandably questioned why all the time and often said no. I wasn’t particularly skilled back then at channeling all of that to an advantage 🤣 but we got there and once the flip switched he never did anything but be totally genuine again.

I truly believe if he’d ended up in a brave riders hands he’d have been flying up the levels eventing and be that tiny horse at the big ones.

Sweet boy, he’s being very very cute at the moment. Weird change, he’s always been a nightmare with fly spray and you have to chase him round the stable. He now stands? Kinda sad, think it might be that he just got used to having horrid things done to him?

What a journey literally and metaphorically you have both been on. He is just a super little horse and a lucky boy too.

Lovely to see him out on pasture, he’s got a fabulous view as well

Yep it’s glorious! They only get an hour or two at a time here and there, you can’t overgraze it here for obvious reasons. The grass is also crazy high in sugar, it’s almost fluorescent green as you can kind of see in the photos. It’s great though, so nice to have and rare for the area.

He doesn’t not like walks he just gets lit up, and I want him to have a couple more weeks of recovery before he starts bounding around too much. Not sure what other things there isn’t to like, or that I’d want to subject him too!

He’s great to hack, when he’s in full work. It’s not that he doesn’t like it, it’s that he is a very forward ride and his busy brain needs lots of things to do. He’s never going to be a ploddy amble around the countryside type, it’s not him. But he will bounce around it for hours on end.
